Front Caliper: Reassembly
- Apply light coat of brake paste to piston and seal. Fit seal in groove of caliper. Start piston in bore. Use Clamp (US 1023/5) to press piston remaining distance. Lightly coat dust boot with brake paste. Fit dust boot onto piston.
- Using Press Clamp (VW 442), press dust cap onto bore groove and seat piston. Install dust boot retainer (if equipped). Install noise damping plates. Repeat procedure with remaining piston. Make sure that pistons are properly seated and that noise damping plates are correctly installed.
- Install piston seal in bore. Slide dust seal onto piston. Lubricate piston and cylinder bore with brake paste. Insert piston into bore. Place inner lip of dust seal into groove of caliper bore.
- Press piston in as far as it will go with Piston Compressor (US 1023/4). When piston is fully seated, fit outer lip of dust seal into groove on piston.
To reassemble, reverse disassembly procedure. Lightly coat pistons and seals with brake paste before refitting.
