Reassembly (Vanagon)

  1. Apply light coat of brake paste to piston and seal. Fit seal in groove of caliper. After starting piston in bore, press it rest of way with Clamp (US 1023/5). Lightly coat dust boot with brake paste. Fit dust boot onto piston.
  2. Using Press Clamp (VW 442), press dust cap onto bore groove and seat piston. Install dust boot retainer, if equipped. Install noise damping plates. Repeat procedure with remaining piston. Make sure that pistons are properly seated and that noise damping plates are correctly installed.
