Oil Pump Assembly: Reassembly

  1. Install thrust washer on pump housing. Carefully install first the large oil seal rings and then the small seal rings onto pump housing, ensuring that ring ends hook correctly.
  2. Lubricate all parts with automatic transaxle fluid. Install inner and outer pump gears into housing, then install drive plate with extended hub inserted into pump housing shaft opening. Install check ball and spring into housing. Align cover with housing then install and tighten attaching screws: See Figure .
NOTE: After pump has been reassembled, insert pump shaft into pump and ensure that gears rotate freely and smoothly. Gear rotation should also be checked after oil pump is installed into transaxle case.
