Direct-Reverse Clutch: Disassembly
- Place direct/reverse clutch assembly on clean, flat surface. Using large screwdriver, pry out large outer circlip. Remove pressure plate, internally splined fiber plates and externally splined steel plates.
- Place clutch drum in a press, apply downward pressure to piston spring retainer and remove snap ring. Release press and remove spring retainer. Using a twisting motion, remove piston with return springs from drum. Remove piston seals and springs from piston. See Fig 1 .
- If necessary for replacement, place clutch drum in a press and drive bushing from drum hub using a driver.
