Valve Springs: Removal

  1. Valve springs may be removed with head installed or removed. If head is installed, apply air pressure to cylinder through spark plug hole to hold valves closed. Compress spring retainer and springs.
  2. Remove keepers and release compressor. Remove retainer and both springs (inner and outer). Make sure springs are not cracking and are of equal length.
