Intake Manifold: Removal

  1. Intake manifold and throttle valve housing are removed as assembly. Assembly can be removed with engine in vehicle. Disconnect battery ground strap. Disconnect wires and remove air cleaner with air sensor and intake boot. Clamp and disconnect coolant hoses from crossover pipe. Remove fuel supply and return lines.
  2. Disconnect all wiring connectors to injectors, temperature sensor, throttle switches and air auxiliary regulator. Disconnect accelerator cable at throttle valve lever. On models with A/T, remove circlip and spring from accelerator rod.
  3. On all models, disconnect all vacuum lines from intake air distributor. Remove metal coolant crossover pipe. Remove bolts holding intake manifold to cylinder head. Lift intake manifold and throttle valve housing off engine as unit.
