Oil Pump: Inspection

  1. Check pump body for scoring. Make sure post for driven gear is tight in pump body. Check lug of drive gear for excessive wear. Make sure machine surface of pump cover is smooth and flat.
  2. Place gears into pump body. Place straightedge across pump body and face of gears. Measure end play of gears to straightedge with feeler gauge. Maximum end play is .004" (.10 mm).
