Removal & Installation

  1. Remove flywheel/drive plate and pry out seal. Take care not to damage engine crankcase with pry tool. Clean seating area for seal. Remove "O" ring from inside lip of flywheel. Check pilot bearing felt ring for damage.
  2. Lightly oil lips of new flywheel seal and install on Seal Installer Guide (VW 191A). Attach Seal Installer Base (VW 191B) to crankshaft. Press seal and guide in until seal seats. Install lightly lubed new "O" ring into flywheel. Install flywheel.
