Inspection

With camshaft removed from engine, check rivets holding gear to shaft. Replace camshaft if rivets are loose or worn on heads. Mount camshaft in "V" blocks or lathe and check runout with dial indicator. Maximum runout allowed is .0015" (.04 mm) measured at center bearing journal of camshaft.
