Removal - TEVES

Raise and support vehicle. Remove tire and wheel. Remove retaining clip (if equipped), and remove retaining pins and spreader spring. Using a disc pad extractor tool (US 1023/3), remove inner brake pad.

Separate outer pad from notch in piston. Then extract outer brake pad. Remove damping plates. Replace brake pads if thickness is less than .08" (2 mm) on Vanagon or .25" (6 mm) on all other models.
