Disc & Drum: Description

Brake systems are hydraulically-actuated, using a tandem master cylinder and optional power brake unit. All models are equipped with front disc brakes, and self-adjusting rear drum brakes.

Jetta, Rabbit, Rabbit GTI and Rabbit Pickup models are equipped with a brake proportional valve. All other models are equipped with a pressure regulator in rear brake circuit to avoid rear wheel lock-up. All models are equipped with cable-actuated parking brake, which operates on rear brakes.
