Brake Warning Light Adjustment

  1. A dual warning light is mounted on dash. Turn ignition on. Light should glow when parking brake lever is pulled 1 notch, and go off when lever is fully released.
  2. To check circuit warning operation, turn ignition on. Release parking brake and ensure light is off.
  3. Open bleeder screw on 1 wheel, and depress brake pedal. Light should glow. Close bleeder screw, replenish brake fluid, and bleed hydraulic system.
NOTE: Jetta, Rabbit, Rabbit GTI and Rabbit Pickup models are equipped with warning sensor, which is connected to brake proportioning valve. This sensor DOES NOT indicate fluid level in master cylinder. All other models are equipped with sensor which indicates fluid level in reservoir.
