Airbag Supplementary Restraint System (SRS) Disabling And Enabling
Failure to follow specified procedures may result in death or serious injury due to improper handling of airbags possible.
- Only appropriately trained persons may carry out work on pyrotechnic components or the Airbag Control Unit.
- Perform SRS disabling procedure prior to commencing work.
- When replacing components of the SRS system, never install used or non-genuine components.
- Pyrotechnic Components must be handled and scrapped appropriately.
Ensure the 2-minute wait time has been observed before proceeding to next step.
SRS component location affects how a vehicle should be serviced. There are parts of the SRS system installed in various locations around the vehicle as shown below.
There are several reasons for disabling the SRS system, such as repairs to the SRS system or servicing a component near or attached to an SRS component.
One example would be when adjusting the side door striker using a hammer or mallet. The ignition should be in the OFF position for ANY service work that requires impact to the body or frame.
The following information covers the procedures for disabling/enabling the SRS system.

| If the vehicle is suspected of having shorted electrical wires | DISCONNECT THE 12V BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL . |
| When performing electrical diagnosis on components other than the SRS system | REMOVE THE 12V BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL to disable the SRS system |

DTC's may be lost when the negative battery cable is disconnected

General Precautions:
The following are general instructions which must be followed in order to properly repair the vehicle and return it to its original integrity:
- Do not expose air bags to temperatures above 85°C.
- Verify the correct replacement part number. Do not substitute a component from a different vehicle.
- Only use new and original VinFast replacement parts. Do not use salvaged parts on the SRS system.
Discard any of the following components if it has been dropped from a height of 80 cm or greater:
- Airbag Control Unit (ACU)
- Any airbag modules
- Driver steering wheel airbag coil
- Any impact sensors
- Seat belt anchor
- Passenger presence module and/or occupant sensor
Disabling Procedure - Negative Battery Cable
- Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicles wheels are pointing straight ahead.
- Place the ignition in the OFF position.
- Disconnect the 12V battery negative terminal. Refer to 12V BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION
- Wait at least 2 minutes before working on system.
Enabling Procedure - Negative Battery Cable
- Place the ignition in the OFF position.
- Reconnect the 12V battery negative terminal. Refer to 12V BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION
- Turn the ignition switch to on position and verify the airbag warning does not stay ON.
- Perform the Diagnostic Check if the airbag warning message does not clear. Refer to DIAGNOSTICS, PROGRAMMING AND SETUP USING IDS IN SERVICE
