Air Conditioning O-ring Seal Replacement

WARNING: Refrigerant System hazard 
Failure to follow specified procedures may result in serious injury due to freezing temperatures associated with leaking refrigerant
  • Only properly trained and authorized persons may carry out work on air conditioning systems.
  • Always use personal protective equipment (PPE).

Removal Procedure: 

  1. Depending on the region, the correct refrigerant must be recovered and recharged. Vietnam market uses R-134a. US/Europe market uses R-1234yf. 

    Recover refrigerant (US/Europe - R-1234YF). Refer to REFRIGERANT RECOVERY AND RECHARGING (R-1234YF) 

  2. Disconnect the 12V battery negative terminal. Refer to 12V BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION
  3. Disassemble the A/C refrigerant component that requires the O-ring seal replacement. Refer to the appropriate repair procedure.

  4. Remember to Cap (1) any open A/C refrigerant component to prevent moisture and dust from entering.

  5. Remove the O-ring seal (1) from the A/C refrigerant part.
  6. Inspect the O-ring seal for any evidence of damage to help determine why the O-ring failed. Also inspect the A/C refrigerant part for damage or burrs, and repair in required.
  7. Discard the O-ring seal.

Installation Procedure:

  1. Remove the Cap from the A/C refrigerant Component. Using a lint-free dry clean cloth carefully clean the sealing surfaces of the A/C refrigerant components.
  2. Carefully fit the new O-ring seal (1) onto the A/C component and lubricate with refrigerant oil. Ensure the O-ring is seated correctly. Installation note: NEVER re-use O-RING seals. 
  3. Re-assemble the A/C Components - Refer to appropriate repair procedure.

    Installation note: If a new component is installed, the refrigerant oil needs to be replenished. See APPROXIMATE FLUID CAPACITIES AND SPECIFICATIONS

  4. Reconnect the 12V Battery negative terminal. Refer to 12V BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION
  5. Depending on the region, the correct refrigerant must be recovered and recharged. Vietnam market uses R-134a. US/Europe market uses R-1234yf. 

    Recharge refrigerant (US/Europe - R-1234YF). Refer to REFRIGERANT RECOVERY AND RECHARGING (R-1234YF)
