A-Pillar Upper Trim Panel Removal And Installation/Replacement

Mobile Repair Possible:  Van/Car

WARNING:
  • Explosive materials

    Failure to follow specified procedures may result in death or serious injury due to improper handling of airbags.

    • Only appropriately trained persons may carry out work on pyrotechnic components or the Airbag Control Unit.
    • Perform SRS disabling procedure prior to commencing work.
    • When replacing components of the SRS system, never install used or non-genuine components.
    • Pyrotechnic Components must be handled and scrapped appropriately.

Removal Procedure: 

The procedure for the left-hand component is identical to that for the right-hand side. 

  1. There is potential for inadvertent deployment of SRS systems during repairs if the system has not been properly disabled. Refer to SRS DISABLING AND ENABLING
    NOTE: Ensure the 2-minute wait time has been observed before proceeding to next step.
  2. Disconnect the 12V battery negative terminal. Refer to 12V BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION

  3. Unclip and remove cover (1).

  4. Remove screw (1).

    Torque: 2.3 Nm

    Removal note: Do not use sharp-edged tools anywhere near the head airbag. 

  5. Loosen 2 clips (2) under A-pillar upper trim panel (1) with suitable tools in arrow direction.

  6. Dismount and remove the A-pillar trim (1) from the dashboard (2).

    Installation Procedure:

Installation note: Check clips (1) for damage and replace if needed. 

  1. Installation is the reverse of removal procedure, noting the following.

    All fasteners must be tightened to torque specification! 

  2. Reconnect the 12V battery negative terminal. Refer to 12V BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION
