DTC B166A-62: Right Side Restraints Sensor 5 / Left Side Restraints Sensor 5 Signal Compare Failure [06/2020 - 10/2022]: Procedure

1. Check for DTCs.

   Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Trouble Codes 

   Result

GO TO DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [06/2020 - 10/2022]

See step  2

1. Turn the ignition switch off.
2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
3. Replace the door side airbag sensor LH with a new one or known good one.

   HINT: 

   Refer to REMOVAL [06/2020 - 12/2021] , or refer to REMOVAL [12/2021 - 10/2022]

   HINT: 

   • When using a new part, since the door side airbag sensor RH and LH have the same part number, prepare either one.
   • Use the prepared door side airbag sensor to check the door side airbag sensor RH as well.
4. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
5. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
6. Clear the DTCs stored in memory.

   Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Clear DTCs 

7. Turn the ignition switch off.
8. Check for DTCs.

   Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Trouble Codes 

   Result

   Proceed to
   DTC B166A-62 is output
   DTC B166A-62 is not output

   HINT: 

   Codes other than DTC B166A-62 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

9. Turn the ignition switch off.
10. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
11. Return the right side restraints sensor that was installed for testing to its original location.

Result: 

DTC B166A-62 is not output 

REPLACE DOOR SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR LH. Refer to  REMOVAL [06/2020 - 12/2021]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [12/2021 - 10/2022] 

Result: 

DTC B166A-62 is output 

See step  3

1. Replace the door side airbag sensor RH with a new one or known good one.

   HINT: 

   Refer to REMOVAL [06/2020 - 12/2021] , or refer to REMOVAL [12/2021 - 10/2022]

   HINT: 

   • When using a new part, since the door side airbag sensor LH and RH have the same part number, prepare either one.
   • Use the prepared door side airbag sensor to check the door side airbag sensor LH as well.
2. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
3. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
4. Clear the DTCs stored in memory.

   Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Clear DTCs 

5. Turn the ignition switch off.
6. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
7. Check for DTCs.

   Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Trouble Codes 

   Result

   Proceed to
   DTC B166A-62 is output
   DTC B166A-62 is not output

   HINT: 

   Codes other than DTC B166A-62 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

8. Turn the ignition switch off.
9. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
10. Return the left side restraints sensor that was installed for testing to its original location.

Result: 

DTC B166A-62 is output 

REPLACE AIRBAG ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [06/2020 - 12/2021]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [12/2021 - 10/2022] 

Result: 

DTC B166A-62 is not output 

REPLACE DOOR SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR RH. Refer to  REMOVAL [06/2020 - 12/2021]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [12/2021 - 10/2022]
