DTC B00D5-14: Restraint System Passenger Disable Indicator Circuit Short to Ground or Open [10/2022 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR CONDITION 
    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    2. Check the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator operation.

      HINT: 

      Refer to the normal condition of the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator.

      Refer to OPERATION CHECK [06/2020 - ]

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator "ON" is always on. A
      Passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator "ON" is always off. B

  2. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTORS 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.
    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    3. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the airbag ECU assembly and telltale light assembly (passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator).

      Result

      Proceed to
      The connectors are properly connected
      The connectors are not properly connected

    Result: 

    The connectors are not properly connected 

    CONNECT CONNECTORS PROPERLY 

    Result: 

    The connectors are properly connected

  3. CHECK CONNECTORS 
    1. Disconnect the airbag ECU assembly connector.

      *1 Telltale Light Assembly (Passenger Airbag ON/OFF Indicator)
      *2 Airbag ECU Assembly
      *3 Wire Harness
    2. Disconnect the telltale light assembly (passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator) connector.
    3. Check that the connectors (on the airbag ECU assembly side and telltale light assembly (passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator) side) are not damaged.

      Result

      Proceed to
      The connectors are not deformed or damaged
      The connectors are deformed or damaged

    Result: 

    The connectors are deformed or damaged 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    The connectors are not deformed or damaged

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CHECK FOR SHORT TO GROUND) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G70-35 (PAON) or G31-4 (PAON) - Body ground Always 1 MΩ or higher

      *3 Wire Harness

    Result:

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  5. CHECK PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR 
    1. Connect the A6 telltale light assembly (passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator) connector.

      *1 Telltale Light Assembly (Passenger Airbag ON/OFF Indicator)
      *2 Airbag ECU Assembly
      *3 Wire Harness
    2. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    4. Check the passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator operation.

      OK

      The passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator "ON" does not come on.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE AIRBAG ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2022 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE TELLTALE LIGHT ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [06/2020 - ] 

  6. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTORS 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.
    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    3. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the airbag ECU assembly and telltale light assembly (passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator).

      Result

      Proceed to
      The connectors are properly connected
      The connectors are not properly connected

    Result: 

    The connectors are not properly connected 

    CONNECT CONNECTORS PROPERLY 

    Result: 

    The connectors are properly connected

  7. CHECK CONNECTORS 
    1. Disconnect the airbag ECU assembly connector.

      *1 Telltale Light Assembly (Passenger Airbag ON/OFF Indicator)
      *2 Airbag ECU Assembly
      *3 Wire Harness
    2. Disconnect the telltale light assembly (passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator) connector.
    3. Check that the connectors (on the airbag ECU assembly side and telltale light assembly (passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator) side) are not damaged.

      Result

      Proceed to
      The connectors are not deformed or damaged
      The connectors are deformed or damaged

    Result: 

    The connectors are deformed or damaged 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    The connectors are not deformed or damaged

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CHECK FOR OPEN) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

  9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE VOLTAGE) 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

      (to Telltale Light Assembly (Passenger Airbag ON/OFF Indicator))
    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    3. Disconnect the telltale light assembly (passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator) connector.
    4. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    5. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    6. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      G31-9 (IG) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE AIRBAG ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2022 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG
