DTC U1150-87: Lost Communication with Hybrid Powertrain Control Module (Hybrid/EV Battery Local Bus) Missing Message [10/2022 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HYBRID CONTROL) 
    1. Check for DTCs.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTCs related to Hybrid Control are not output. A
      DTCs related to Hybrid Control are output. B
    2. Turn the ignition switch off.

    Result: 

    GO TO DTC CHART (HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM) 

    Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [10/2022 - 11/2024] , or refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [11/2024 - ]

    Result:

  2. CHECK HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU (VOLTAGE) 
    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      *a Component with harness connected
      (Hybrid Vehicle Control ECU)
      - -

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A121-7 (+B1) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
      A121-8 (+B2) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
      A97-23 (+B3M) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
    3. Turn the ignition switch off.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT) 

    Result: 

    OK

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - BATTERY ECU ASSEMBLY) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves and protective goggles.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the ignition switch to ON (READY), unless instructed by the service information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Remove the No. 1 traction battery cover.

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

    3. Connect the SST.

      Refer to Instructions for Connecting SST [06/2020 - ] 

    4. Disconnect the j3 battery ECU assembly connector.
      NOTE:

      Before disconnecting the connector, check that it is not loose or disconnected.

    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      j3-7 (CA1H) - j3-8 (CA1L) Ignition switch off 54 to 69 Ω

      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Battery ECU Assembly)
      NOTE:

      Make sure that each connector between the electric vehicle charger assembly and hybrid vehicle control ECU is not loose or disconnected and its terminals are not deformed or corroded.

    6. Reconnect the j3 battery ECU assembly connector.
    7. Disconnect the SST.
    8. Install the No. 1 traction battery cover.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE BATTERY ECU ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [10/2022 - ]

    Result: 

    NG

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - BATTERY ECU ASSEMBLY) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves and protective goggles.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the ignition switch to ON (READY), unless instructed by the service information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Disconnect the A121 hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
      NOTE:

      Before disconnecting the connector, check that it is not loose or disconnected.

    3. Remove the EV charger duct.

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 27

    4. Disconnect the N60 Electric vehicle charger assembly connector.
      NOTE:

      Before disconnecting the connector, check that it is not loose or disconnected.

    5. Remove the No. 1 traction battery cover.

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

    6. Connect the SST.

      Refer to Instructions for Connecting SST [06/2020 - ] 

    7. Disconnect the j3 battery ECU assembly connector.

      NOTE:

      Before disconnecting the connector, check that it is not loose or disconnected.

    8. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      j3-7 (CA1H) - A121-10 (CA4H) Ignition switch off Below 1 Ω
      j3-8 (CA1L) - A121-23 (CA4L) Ignition switch off Below 1 Ω
      j3-7 (CA1H) or A121-10 (CA4H) - Other terminals and body ground Ignition switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      j3-8 (CA1L) or A121-23 (CA4L) - Other terminals and body ground Ignition switch off 10 kΩ or higher

      NOTE:

      Make sure that each connector between the battery ECU assembly and hybrid vehicle control ECU is not loose or disconnected and its terminals are not deformed or corroded.

    9. Reconnect the j3 battery ECU assembly connector.
    10. Disconnect the SST.
    11. Install the No. 1 traction battery cover.
    12. Reconnect the N60 Electric vehicle charger assembly connector.
    13. Install the EV charger duct.
    14. Reconnect the A121 hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU 

    Refer to REMOVAL [10/2022 - ]

    Result: 

    NG
