Reassembly [06/2020 - ]: Procedure

HINT: 

When installing the back door garnish moulding protector RH, heat the back door outside garnish and back door garnish moulding protector RH using a heat light.

Standard

WARNING:

• Do not touch the heat light and heated parts.
• Touching the heat light may result in burns.
• Touching heated parts for a long time may result in burns.

1. When reusing the back door outside garnish:
   1. Using a heat light, heat the back door outside garnish surface.
   2. Remove any remaining double-sided tape from the back door outside garnish.
   3. Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.
      NOTE:

      • Installing the back door garnish moulding protector RH with some double-sided tape remaining may cause poor adhesion. Perform this procedure until the tape is sufficiently removed.
      • Make sure to use a cloth when removing. Using a screwdriver, etc., may cause damage and poor adhesion.
      • Also, clean a new back door outside garnish surface.
2. Apply primer to the back door outside garnish on the installation area of the back door garnish moulding protector RH using a brush or felt.

   	Primer

   NOTE:

   • Replace the brush or felt if it is dirty or has become hardened.
   • Keep any painted surface free from primer.
   • If the primer contacts a painted surface, it may leave light primer marks. Therefore, use protective tape when using liquid primer.
   • Do not touch surfaces to which primer has been applied until the back door garnish moulding protector RH has been attached.
3. Let the primer dry sufficiently.
   NOTE:

   Do not touch applied surfaces until the primer is dry.

   Recommended drying time

   10 minutes or more (at 23°C (73°F))

4. Using a heat light, heat the back door outside garnish and a new back door garnish moulding protector RH.
   NOTE:

   Do not heat the back door outside garnish and back door garnish moulding protector RH excessively.

5. Remove the release paper from the back door garnish moulding protector RH.
   NOTE:

   After removing the peeling paper, do not touch the surface of the tape with your fingers or cotton work gloves.

6. Install the 3 back door garnish moulding protector RH in the position shown in the illustration.

   NOTE:

   The application strength of the back door garnish moulding protector RH will weaken if reapplied. If reapplication is necessary, be sure to replace it with a new one.

   HINT: 

   Apply pressure so that it does not lift up from the back door outside garnish.

HINT: 

• When installing the back door garnish moulding protector LH, heat the back door outside garnish and back door garnish moulding protector LH using a heat light.
• Use the same procedure for both back door garnish moulding protectors LH.
