DTC B166A-62: Right Side Restraints Sensor 5 / Left Side Restraints Sensor 5 Signal Compare Failure [12/2022 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC 
    1. Check for DTCs.

      Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      B009E-87 Right Side Restraints Sensor 5 Missing Message
      B009E-96 Right Side Restraints Sensor 5 Component Internal Failure

      HINT: 

      If DTCs in the table above are output, troubleshoot those DTCs first.

    Result: 

    B 

    GO TO DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [12/2022 - 03/2023]  , or refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [03/2023 - ] 

    Result: 

    A

  2. CLEAR DTC 

    Pre-procedure1

    • Turn the ignition switch off.
    • Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    • Replace the side airbag pressure sensor RH with a new one or known good one.

      HINT: 

      Refer to REMOVAL [12/2022 - 03/2023] , or refer to REMOVAL [03/2023 - ]

      HINT: 

      • When using a new part, since the side airbag pressure sensor LH and RH have the same part number, prepare either one.
      • Use the prepared side airbag pressure sensor to check the side airbag pressure sensor LH as well.
    • Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    • Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    • Clear the DTCs stored in memory.

      Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Clear DTCs 

      Result

      Proceed to

    Post-procedure1

    • Turn the ignition switch off.

    Result:

  3. CHECK SIDE AIRBAG PRESSURE SENSOR RH 

    Pre-procedure1

    • Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    • Check for DTCs.

      Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      B166A-62 is output A
      B166A-62 is not output B

      HINT: 

      Codes other than DTC B166A-62 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

    Post-procedure1

    • Turn the ignition switch off.
    • Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    • Return the side airbag pressure sensor RH that was installed for testing to its original location.

    Result: 

    B 

    REPLACE SIDE AIRBAG PRESSURE SENSOR RH. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2022 - 03/2023]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [03/2023 - ] 

    Result: 

    A

  4. CLEAR DTC 

    Pre-procedure1

    • Replace the side airbag pressure sensor LH with a new one or known good one.

      HINT: 

      Refer to REMOVAL [12/2022 - 03/2023] , or refer to REMOVAL [03/2023 - ]

      HINT: 

      • When using a new part, since the side airbag pressure sensor LH and RH have the same part number, prepare either one.
      • Use the prepared side airbag pressure sensor to check the side airbag pressure sensor RH as well.
    • Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    • Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    • Clear the DTCs stored in memory.

      Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Clear DTCs

    • Turn the ignition switch off.

  5. CHECK SIDE AIRBAG PRESSURE SENSOR LH 

    Pre-procedure1

    • Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    • Check for DTCs.

      Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      B166A-62 is output A
      B166A-62 is not output B

      HINT: 

      Codes other than DTC B166A-62 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

    Post-procedure1

    • Turn the ignition switch off.
    • Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    • Return the side airbag pressure sensor LH that was installed for testing to its original location.

    Result: 

    A 

    REPLACE AIRBAG ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2022 - 03/2023]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [03/2023 - ] 

    Result: 

    B 

    REPLACE SIDE AIRBAG PRESSURE SENSOR LH. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2022 - 03/2023]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [03/2023 - ]
