DTC U1150-87: Lost Communication with Hybrid Powertrain Control Module (Hybrid/EV Battery Local Bus) Missing Message [12/2022 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HYBRID CONTROL) 

    Pre-procedure1

    • None
    • Check and record any Hybrid Control DTCs and freeze frame data. Check for DTCs.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTCs related to Hybrid Control System are not output. A
      DTCs related to Hybrid Control System are output. B

    Post-procedure1

    • Turn the ignition switch off.

    Result: 

    GO TO DTC CHART (HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM). Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [12/2022 - ] 

    Result:

  2. CHECK HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU (VOLTAGE) 

    Pre-procedure1

    • Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    • Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      *a Component with harness connected
      (Hybrid Vehicle Control ECU)
      - -

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition Result
      K11-8 (+B1) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V V

      Result

      NG

    Post-procedure1

    • Turn the ignition switch off.

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (BATTERY ECU ASSEMBLY POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT) 

    Result: 

    OK

  3. CHECK HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves and protective goggles.

    Pre-procedure1

    • Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the ignition switch to ON (READY), unless instructed by the repair information because this may cause a malfunction.

    • Disconnect the battery ECU assembly connector.

      NOTE:

      Before disconnecting the connector, check that it is not loose or disconnected.

    • Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition Result
      R40-22 (CA1H) - R40-21 (CA1L) Ignition switch off 108 to 132 Ω Ω

      OK
      NG

    Post-procedure1

    • Reconnect the battery ECU assembly connector.

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE BATTERY ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2022 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - BATTERY ECU ASSEMBLY) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves and protective goggles.

    Pre-procedure1

    • Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the ignition switch to ON (READY), unless instructed by the repair information because this may cause a malfunction.

    • Disconnect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
      NOTE:

      Before disconnecting the connector, check that it is not loose or disconnected.

    • Disconnect the A89 inverter with converter assembly connector.
    • Disconnect the K53 transmission floor shift assembly (shift control ECU) connector.
    • Disconnect the C49 shift control actuator assembly (shift actuator ECU) connector.
    • Disconnect the battery ECU assembly connector.

      NOTE:
      • Before disconnecting the connector, check that it is not loose or disconnected.
      • Check the terminals of the connector for deformation and corrosion.
    • Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      R40-22 (CA1H) - K11-9 (CA4H) Ignition switch off Below 1 Ω Ω
      R40-21 (CA1L) - K11-22 (CA4L) Ignition switch off Below 1 Ω Ω
      R40-22 (CA1H) or K11-9 (CA4H) - Other terminals and body ground Ignition switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      R40-21 (CA1L) or K11-22 (CA4L) - Other terminals and body ground Ignition switch off 10 kΩ or higher

    Post-procedure1

    • Reconnect the battery ECU assembly connector.
    • Reconnect the shift control actuator assembly (shift actuator ECU) connector.
    • Reconnect the transmission floor shift assembly (shift control ECU) connector.
    • Reconnect the inverter with converter assembly connector.
    • Reconnect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2022 - 03/2023]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [03/2023 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
