Drive Mode Select Switch Circuit [12/2022 - ]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING GTS (CAN BUS CHECK) 

    See step  2

    Result

    Result Proceed to
    All of the ECUs and sensors that are currently connected to the CAN communication system are displayed A
    None of the ECUs and sensors that are currently connected to the CAN communication system are displayed, or some of them are not displayed B

    Result: 

    GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [12/2022 - ]

  2. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HEALTH CHECK)

    Result

    Result Proceed to
    No DTCs are output A
    DTCs are output B

    Result: 

    GO TO DTC CHART. Refer To  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [12/2022 - ]

  3. CHECK DRIVE MODE STATUS 
    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    2. Operate the drive mode select switch (combination switch assembly) to change the drive mode.
    3. Check that the drive mode indicator is displayed on the multi-information display and changes according to the selected drive mode.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      The display changes according to the drive mode select switch operation A
      The display does not change according to the drive mode select switch operation B
    4. Turn the power switch off.

    Result: 

    GO TO PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [12/2022 - ]

  4. READ VALUE USING GTS (DRIVE MODE SWITCH) 
    1. Read the value displayed on the GTS.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Data List 

      Tester Display
      Drive Mode Switch-
      Drive Mode Switch+

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      The display changes according to the drive mode select switch operation A
      Other than above B
    2. Turn the ignition switch off.

    Result: 

    CHECK METER / GAUGE SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [12/2022 - 03/2023]  , or refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [03/2023 - ]

  5. INSPECT DRIVE MODE SELECT SWITCH (COMBINATION SWITCH ASSEMBLY) 

    Refer to INSPECTION [12/2022 - ]

    Result

    Proceed to
    OK
    NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE COMBINATION SWITCH ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2022 - ] 

    Result: 

    OK

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DRIVE MODE SELECT SWITCH (COMBINATION SWITCH ASSEMBLY) - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the drive mode select switch (combination switch assembly) connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      K22-7 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Reconnect the drive mode select switch (combination switch assembly) connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - DRIVE MODE SELECT SWITCH (COMBINATION SWITCH ASSEMBLY)) 
    1. Disconnect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the drive mode select switch (combination switch assembly) connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      K11-37 (DMS-) - K22-12 (DMS-) Always Below 1 Ω
      K11-38 (DMS+) - K22-5 (DMS+) Always Below 1 Ω
      K11-37 (DMS-) or K22-12 (DMS-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      K11-38 (DMS+) or K22-5 (DMS+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reconnect the drive mode select switch (combination switch assembly) connector.
    5. Reconnect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2022 - 03/2023]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [03/2023 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
