Removal [02/2024 - ]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 

    Refer to PRECAUTION [02/2024 - ]

  2. REMOVE SERVICE PLUG GRIP 

    Refer to REMOVAL [02/2024 - ]

  3. DRAIN COOLANT (for Inverter) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  4. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [02/2024 - ]

  5. REMOVE UPPER INVERTER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    WARNING:

    Wear insulated gloves.

    NOTE:
    • Make sure to pull the upper inverter cover sub-assembly straight up, as a connector is connected to the bottom of the cover.
    • Do not touch the upper inverter cover sub-assembly waterproofing rubber.
    • Do not allow any foreign matter or water to enter the hybrid motor control inverter assembly.

  6. REMOVE INVERTER TERMINAL COVER 
    WARNING:

    Wear insulated gloves.

    NOTE:
    • Make sure to pull the inverter terminal cover straight up, as a connector is connected to the bottom of the cover.
    • Do not touch the inverter terminal cover waterproofing rubber.
    • Do not allow any foreign matter or water to enter the hybrid motor control inverter assembly.

  7. CHECK TERMINAL VOLTAGE 
    WARNING:

    Wear insulated gloves.

    NOTE:

    Do not allow any foreign matter or water to enter the hybrid motor control inverter assembly.

      1. Using a voltmeter, measure the voltage between the terminals of the 2 phase connectors.

        Standard Voltage

        0 V

        HINT: 

        Use a measuring range of DC 750 V or more on the voltmeter.

  8. REMOVE RELAY BLOCK COVER

  9. DISCONNECT MOTOR CABLE 
    WARNING:

    Wear insulated gloves.

      Protective Tape - -
      1. Disengage the clamp.
      2. Using an insulated tool, remove the 3 bolts (A).
      3. Using an insulated tool, remove the 2 bolts (B), and disconnect the motor cable from the hybrid motor control inverter assembly.
        NOTE:
        • Do not allow any foreign matter or water to enter the hybrid motor control inverter assembly.
        • Do not touch the connector waterproofing rubber or terminals.
        • Do not damage the terminals, connector housings or hybrid motor control inverter assembly during disconnection.
        • Insulate the disconnected terminals with insulating tape.
        • Cover the hole where the cable was connected with tape (non-residue type) or equivalent to prevent entry of foreign matter.
      4. Protect the openings of the hybrid motor control inverter assembly with protective tape (non-residue type) to prevent the entry of foreign matter or water.
  10. DISCONNECT FLOOR UNDER WIRE 
    WARNING:

    Wear insulated gloves.

      Protective Tape - -
      1. Using an insulated tool, remove the 2 bolts (A).
      2. Using an insulated tool, remove the 2 bolts (B), and disconnect the floor under wire from the hybrid motor control inverter assembly.
        NOTE:
        • Do not allow any foreign matter or water to enter the hybrid motor control inverter assembly.
        • Do not touch the connector waterproofing rubber or terminals.
        • Do not damage the terminals, connector housings or hybrid motor control inverter assembly during disconnection.
        • Insulate the disconnected terminals with insulating tape.
        • Cover the hole where the cable was connected with tape (non-residue type) or equivalent to prevent entry of foreign matter.
      3. Protect the openings of the hybrid motor control inverter assembly with protective tape (non-residue type) to prevent the entry of foreign matter or water.
  11. DISCONNECT ENGINE ROOM MAIN WIRE 
    WARNING:

    Wear insulated gloves.

      1. Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the engine room wire.
      2. Disengage the clamp.
      3. Protect the openings of the hybrid motor control inverter assembly with protective tape (non-residue type) to prevent the entry of foreign matter or water.

      1. Remove the bolt.
      2. Disconnect the connector.
      3. Raise the lock lever and disconnect the front compartment main wire from the hybrid motor control inverter assembly as shown in the illustration.
  12. REMOVE MOTOR CABLE BRACKET

  13. DISCONNECT NO. 1 INVERTER COOLING HOSE ASSEMBLY

      1. Release the retainer and disconnect the No. 1 inverter cooling hose assembly from the hybrid motor control inverter assembly as shown in the illustration.
      2. Protect the connecting part of the No. 1 inverter cooling hose assembly with a plastic bag to prevent entry of foreign matter.
      3. Protect the openings of the hybrid motor control inverter assembly with protective tape (non-residue type) to prevent the entry of foreign matter or water.
        NOTE:

        Apply insulating tape to the pipes and in the disconnected hoses, or cover the pipes and hoses with plastic bags to prevent foreign matter from entering the cooling system and to prevent coolant from spilling near the hybrid motor control inverter assembly.

  14. DISCONNECT NO. 2 INVERTER COOLING HOSE ASSEMBLY

      1. Release the retainer hose clip and disconnect the No. 2 inverter cooling hose assembly from the hybrid motor control inverter assembly.
      2. Protect the connecting part of the No. 2 inverter cooling hose assembly with a plastic bag to prevent entry of foreign matter.
      3. Protect the openings of the hybrid motor control inverter assembly with protective tape (non-residue type) to prevent the entry of foreign matter or water.
        NOTE:

        Apply insulating tape to the pipes and in the disconnected hoses, or cover the pipes and hoses with plastic bags to prevent foreign matter from entering the cooling system and to prevent coolant from spilling near the hybrid motor control inverter assembly.

  15. DISCONNECT NO. 6 ENGINE ROOM WIRE

  16. REMOVE HYBRID INVERTER PROTECTOR ASSEMBLY

  17. REMOVE HYBRID MOTOR CONTROL INVERTER ASSEMBLY 
    WARNING:

    Wear insulated gloves.

    NOTE:

    Even after the coolant is drained, coolant remains in the hybrid motor control inverter assembly due to its internal structure. Therefore, plug or cover the pipes with a plastic bag when removing the hybrid motor control inverter assembly from the vehicle so that coolant does not spill out.

      1. Remove the 2 nuts and hybrid motor control inverter assembly.
        NOTE:
        • Since the hybrid motor control inverter assembly is very heavy, 2 people are needed to remove the hybrid motor control inverter assembly. When removing the hybrid motor control inverter assembly, do not damage the parts around it.
        • To prevent damage, do not hold the hybrid motor control inverter assembly by the connectors.
        • To prevent damage due to static electricity, do not touch the terminals of the disconnected connectors.
        • Cover the connectors with insulating tape to prevent foreign matter or water from entering.
        • Do not hold the pipe when removing the inverter.

        HINT: 

        Even after the coolant is drained, coolant remains in the inverter due to its internal structure. Therefore, seal or cover the pipes when removing the inverter so that coolant does not spill out.

      *a Cushion *b AMD Connector
      1. When removing and storing the hybrid motor control inverter assembly, make sure to install the inverter terminal cover and place a cushion under the hybrid motor control inverter assembly to protect it.
        NOTE:
        • Do not place the hybrid motor control inverter assembly upside down.
        • Set the inverter in a position where the AMD connector will not be subjected to loads during work.
