Result Proceed to CAN communication DTCs are not output. A CAN communication DTCs are output. B
Result:
B
GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM. Refer to HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [02/2024 - ]
Result:
A
See step 2
- Check if CAN communication DTCs are output.
- CHECK FOR DTC (SFI SYSTEM)
- Check for SFI system DTCs are output.
Powertrain > Engine > Trouble Codes
Result
Result Proceed to SFI system DTCs are not output. A SFI system DTCs is output. B
Result:
B
GO TO SFI SYSTEM. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [02/2024 - ]
Result:
A
See step 3
- Check for SFI system DTCs are output.
- READ VALUE USING GTS (COOLANT TEMPERATURE)
- Using the GTS, read the Data List.

Tester Display Measurement Item Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note Coolant Temperature Engine coolant temperature Min.: -40°C (-40°F), Max.: 140°C (284°F) 75 to 115°C (167 to 239°F): After warming up This is the engine coolant temperature.
HINT:- After warming up the engine, the engine coolant temperature will be 75 to 100°C (167 to 212°F).
- After a long soak, the engine coolant temperature, intake air temperature and ambient air temperature will be approximately equal.
- If the value is -40°C (-40°F), or higher than 135°C (275°F), the sensor circuit is open or shorted.
- Check if the engine overheats if the value indicated is higher than 135°C (275°F).
Powertrain > Engine > Data List
Tester Display Coolant Temperature HINT:
- When the Data List values of the ECUs match, an internal malfunction of the ECM is suspected.
- When the Data List values of the ECUs do not match, an internal malfunction of the combination meter assembly is suspected.
OK
The Data List values of the ECUs do match.
Result
Proceed to OK NG
Result:
OK
REPLACE ECM. Refer to REMOVAL [02/2024 - ]
Result:
NG
REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY. Refer to REMOVAL [02/2024 - ]
- Using the GTS, read the Data List.
