DTC B1321-87: Lost Communication with EMV Missing Message [02/2024 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Check if meter/gauge system DTCs are output.

      Body Electrical > Combination Meter > Trouble Codes 

    2. Check if navigation system DTCs are output.

      Body Electrical > Navigation System > Trouble Codes 

    3. Check for DTCs and the output pattern according to the following table.

  2. CHECK CAN WIRE (COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY) 

    Pre-procedure1

    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    2. Disconnect the E7 combination meter assembly connector.

      Procedure1

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E7-15 (TX+) - E7-31 (TX-) Cable disconnected from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal 54 to 69 Ω
      E7-15 (TX+) - E102-4 (CG) Cable disconnected from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal 200 Ω or higher
      E7-31 (TX-) - E102-4 (CG) Cable disconnected from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal 200 Ω or higher
      E7-15 (TX+) - E102-16 (BAT) Cable disconnected from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal 6 kΩ or higher
      E7-31 (TX-) - E102-16 (BAT) Cable disconnected from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal 6 kΩ or higher

    REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY

  3. CHECK CAN WIRE 

    Pre-procedure1

    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    2. Disconnect the E15 radio and display receiver assembly connector.
    3. Disconnect the E7 combination meter assembly connector.

      Procedure1

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E7-15 (TX+) - E15-11 (CNH1) Cable disconnected from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal Below 1 Ω
      E7-15 (TX+) - E15-9 (CNH2) Cable disconnected from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal Below 1 Ω
      E7-31 (TX-) - E15-12 (CNL1) Cable disconnected from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal Below 1 Ω

  4. CHECK RADIO AND DISPLAY RECEIVER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the E7 combination meter assembly connector.
    2. Using an oscilloscope, check the waveform.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Tool Setting Specified Condition
      E7-15 (TX+) - E7-31 (TX-) Ignition switch ON 1V/DIV., 100μs./DIV. Pulse generation

    REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY
