Removal [12/2022 - ]: Procedure

  1. REMOVE BACK DOOR UPPER TRIM PANEL ASSEMBLY 

    See step  1

  2. REMOVE BACK DOOR SIDE GARNISH LH 

    See step  2

  3. REMOVE BACK DOOR SIDE GARNISH RH 
    1. Use the same procedure for the LH side.
  4. REMOVE BACK DOOR TRIM BOARD ASSEMBLY 

    See step  6

  5. REMOVE POWER BACK DOOR UNIT ASSEMBLY

    • Do not perform work if the back door is not securely supported.
    • The back door could fall, resulting in injury.
    NOTE:
    • Avoid touching the piston rod as much as possible to prevent foreign matter from attaching to it. Be sure to hold the cylinder while servicing.
    • Do not apply any horizontal load to the door stay in order to prevent the piston rod from deforming.

    2. for Type A:

      *1 Grommet - -
      Remove in this Direction - -
      1. Disconnect the connector.
      2. Disengage the grommet as shown in the illustration.
      3. Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped with protective tape, slightly raise the 2 stop rings as shown in the illustration.
        NOTE:

        Do not remove the stop ring. When removed the stop ring, make sure to replace with a new one.

      4. Disengage the 2 ball joints to remove the power back door unit assembly.
        NOTE:

        Remove the power back door unit assembly while supporting the back door by hand.

    3. for Type B:

      *1 Grommet - -
      Remove in this Direction - -
      1. Disconnect the connector.
      2. Disengage the grommet as shown in the illustration.
      3. Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped with protective tape, slightly raise the 2 stop rings as shown in the illustration.
        NOTE:

        Do not remove the stop ring. When removed the stop ring, make sure to replace with a new one.

      4. Disengage the 2 ball joints to remove the power back door unit assembly.
        NOTE:

        Remove the power back door unit assembly while supporting the back door by hand.

  6. REMOVE BACK DOOR DAMPER STAY UPPER BRACKET

  7. REMOVE BACK DOOR DAMPER STAY LOWER BRACKET
