WARNING: Courtesy of © TOYOTA, LICENSE AGREEMENT TMS1002 Do not perform work if the back door is not securely supported. The back door could fall, resulting in injury. NOTE: Avoid touching the piston rod as much as possible to prevent foreign matter from attaching to it. Be sure to hold the cylinder while servicing. Do not apply any horizontal load to the door stay in order to prevent the piston rod from deforming.

   *1	Grommet	-	-
   	Remove in this Direction	-	-

   1. Disconnect the connector.
   2. Disengage the grommet as shown in the illustration.
   3. Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped with protective tape, slightly raise the 2 stop rings as shown in the illustration.
      NOTE:

      Do not remove the stop ring. When removed the stop ring, make sure to replace with a new one.

   4. Disengage the 2 ball joints to remove the power back door unit assembly.
      NOTE:

      Remove the power back door unit assembly while supporting the back door by hand.

3. for Type B:

   *1	Grommet	-	-
   	Remove in this Direction	-	-

   1. Disconnect the connector.
   2. Disengage the grommet as shown in the illustration.
