Installation [02/2024 - ]: Procedure

  1. CLEAN BACK DOOR GLASS

      *a When reusing the back door glass - -
      1. When reusing the back door glass:

        1. Using a scraper, grind off the double-sided tape left on the back door glass.

        NOTE:

        Do not damage the back door glass.

      2. Using non-residue solvent, clean the back door glass.
        NOTE:

        Be sure to clean the back door glass even if it is new.

  2. INSTALL NO. 1 BACK DOOR WIRE HARNESS GUIDE

      *a Backside *b Ceramic Line
      Glass Primer - -
      1. Using a brush, apply primer to the installation area of the No. 1 back door wire harness guide.
        NOTE:

        Do not apply too much glass primer.

      2. Remove the peeling paper while making sure not to touch the adhesional surface.
      3. Install 6 new No. 1 back door wire harness guides to the back door glass while aligning the No. 1 back door wire harness guide with the ceramic line of the back door glass shown in the illustration.
        NOTE:

        After the primer dries (in approximately 3 minutes), install the No. 1 back door wire harness guide.

  3. INSTALL NO. 2 BACK DOOR WIRE HARNESS GUIDE

      *a Backside - -
      Glass Primer - -
      1. Using a brush, apply primer to the installation area of the No. 2 back door wire harness guide.
        NOTE:

        Do not apply too much glass primer.

      2. Remove the peeling paper while making sure not to touch the adhesional surface.
      3. Install a new No. 2 back door wire harness guides to the back door glass while aligning the No. 2 back door wire harness guide with the ceramic line of the back door glass shown in the illustration.
        NOTE:

        After the primer dries (in approximately 3 minutes), install the No. 2 back door wire harness guide.

  4. INSTALL NO. 1 REAR WINDOW WIRE 
  5. INSTALL BACK WINDOW MOULDING OUTSIDE LH

      *a Backside *b Ceramic Line
      Glass Primer - -
      1. Using a brush, apply primer to the installation area of the back window outside moulding LH.
        NOTE:

        Do not apply too much glass primer.

      2. Remove the peeling paper while making sure not to touch the adhesional surface.
      3. Install a new back window outside moulding LH to the back window glass while aligning the back window outside moulding LH with the ceramic line of the back window glass shown in the illustration.
        NOTE:

        After the primer dries (in approximately 3 minutes), install the back window outside moulding LH.

  6. INSTALL BACK WINDOW MOULDING OUTSIDE RH 
    1. Use the same procedure described for the LH side.
  7. INSTALL NO. 1 BACK DOOR GLASS SPACER

      *a Backside *b Installation Alignment Mark
      Glass Primer - -
      1. Using a brush, apply primer to the installation area of the back door glass spacer.
        NOTE:

        Do not apply too much glass primer.

      2. Remove the peeling paper while making sure not to touch the adhesional surface.
      3. Install a new back door glass spacer to the back door glass while aligning the back door glass spacer with the alignment marks of the back door glass shown in the illustration.
        NOTE:

        After the primer dries (in approximately 3 minutes), install the back door glass spacer.

    2. Use the same procedure for the other side.
  8. INSTALL BACK DOOR HINGE PLATE LH

      *a Backside - -
      Glass Primer - -
      1. Using a brush, apply primer to the installation area of the back door hinge plate LH.
        NOTE:

        Do not apply too much glass primer.

      2. Remove the peeling paper while making sure not to touch the adhesional surface.
      3. Install a new back door hinge plate LH to the back door glass while aligning the back door hinge plate LH with the alignment marks of the back door glass shown in the illustration.
        NOTE:

        After the primer dries (in approximately 3 minutes), install the back door hinge plate LH.

    2. Use the same procedure described for the LH side.
  9. INSTALL BACK DOOR HINGE PLATE RH 
  10. INSTALL BACK DOOR WINDOW HINGE RETAINER 
  11. INSTALL BACK DOOR GLASS UPPER GUIDE BRACKET LH

      *a Backside - -
      1. When replacing the screw with a new one:
        1. Clean the threaded portion on the back door glass with non-residue solvent.
        2. Install the back door glass upper guide bracket LH with 2 new screws.

        Torque: 6.0 N*m (61 kgf*cm, 53 in.*lbf) 

      2. When reusing the screw:
        1. Clean the threaded portion on the back door glass with non-residue solvent.
        2. Apply adhesive to the threads of the screw.

          Adhesive

          Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1324, Three Bond 1324 or equivalent

          NOTE:

          Do not apply adhesive to the 2 threads of the screw tip.

        3. Install the back door glass upper guide bracket LH with 2 new screws.

        Torque: 6.0 N*m (61 kgf*cm, 53 in.*lbf) 

  12. INSTALL BACK DOOR GLASS UPPER GUIDE BRACKET RH 
    1. Use the same procedure described for the LH side.
  13. INSTALL BACK WINDOW LOCK STRIKER ASSEMBLY 

    Torque: 5.0 N*m (51 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf) 

  14. INSTALL BACK DOOR SEAL

      *a Backside - -
      Glass Primer - -
      1. Using a brush, apply primer to the installation area of the back door seal LH.
        NOTE:

        Do not apply too much glass primer.

      *a Backside - -
      1. Remove the peeling paper while making sure not to touch the adhesional surface.
      2. Install a new back door seal to the back door glass while aligning the back door seal with the R end of the back door glass shown in the illustration.

        Standard Dimension

        Area Dimension
        a 6.0 to 10.0 mm (0.236 to 0.394 in.)
        b 2.5 to 4.5 mm (0.0984 to 0.177 in.)
        NOTE:

        After the primer dries (in approximately 3 minutes), install the back door seal.

  15. INSTALL BACK DOOR SEAL

      1. Using a brush, apply primer to the installation area of the back door seal.
        NOTE:

        Do not apply too much glass primer.

      *a Backside - -
      1. Remove the peeling paper while making sure not to touch the adhesional surface.
      2. Install a new back door seal to the back door glass while aligning the back door seal with the R end of the back door glass shown in the illustration.

        Standard Dimension

        Area Dimension
        a 3.9 to 5.9 mm (0.154 to 0.232 in.)
        b 1.2 to 4.2 mm (0.0472 to 0.165 in.)
        NOTE:

        After the primer dries (in approximately 3 minutes), install the back door seal.

  16. INSTALL NO. 3 BACK DOOR WIRE HARNESS GUIDE

      *a Backside - -
      Glass Primer - -
      1. Using a brush, apply primer to the installation area of the No. 3 back door wire harness guide.
        NOTE:

        Do not apply too much glass primer.

      2. Remove the peeling paper while making sure not to touch the adhesional surface.
      3. Install a new No. 3 back door wire harness guide to the back door glass while aligning the No. 3 back door wire harness guide with the ceramic line of the back door glass shown in the illustration.
        NOTE:

        After the primer dries (in approximately 3 minutes), install the No. 3 back door wire harness guide.

  17. INSTALL BACK DOOR GLASS 
    1. When reusing the back window glass:

      *a Matchmarks - -
      1. Align the matchmarks and install the back door glass.

      1. Install the back door glass with the 4 nuts.
        NOTE:

        Be careful not to drop the back door glass.

        Torque: 8.0 N*m (82 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf) 

  18. INSTALL BACK WINDOW STAY ASSEMBLY LH 
    See step  2
  19. INSTALL BACK WINDOW STAY ASSEMBLY RH 
    1. Use the same procedure described for the LH side.
  20. INSTALL REAR WIPER LINK ASSEMBLY 
    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1
  21. INSTALL REAR WIPER LINK PIVOT WITH WASHER PACKING NUT 
    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3
  22. INSTALL REAR WIPER LINK CAP 
    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4
  23. INSTALL REAR WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY 
    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5
  24. INSTALL REAR WIPER SHAFT COVER 
  25. INSTALL REAR INNER MIRROR CAMERA ASSEMBLY WITH GARNISH 

    Refer to INSTALLATION [02/2024 - ]

  26. INSTALL REAR SPOILER 

    Refer to INSTALLATION [02/2024 - ]

  27. CHECK FOR LEAK AND REPAIR

      1. Follow the procedure below to check for water leaks and repair.

        1. Remove the protective tape.

        2. After the adhesive has hardened, apply water from outside the vehicle and check for leaks from in the cabin.

        3. If water leaks into the cabin, seal any leaks with adhesive after the water has dried.

  28. ADJUST BACK DOOR GLASS 

    Refer to ADJUSTMENT [02/2024 - ] 

  29. INSPECT REAR WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY 
    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6
