Removal [11/2021 - ]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 
    NOTE:
    • Refer to "PRECAUTION" before handling the airbag system components.

      Refer to PRECAUTION [11/2021 - ]

    • Do not allow harness and connectors to interfere or get tangled up with other parts. They could cause poor continuity.
  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE AUXILIARY BATTERY TERMINAL 
    WARNING:

    Wait at least 60 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    Refer to REMOVAL [11/2021 - ]

  3. REMOVE CENTER NO. 2 INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL 
    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5
  4. REMOVE INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL LH 
    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6
  5. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7
  6. REMOVE LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY 
    WARNING:

    When storing the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly, keep the airbag deployment side facing upward.

      *a Illumination off - -
      1. Check that the ignition switch is off.
      2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
        WARNING:

        Wait at least 60 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

      1. Disconnect the airbag connector.

        HINT: 

        Refer to How to Connect or Disconnect Airbag Connector.

        Refer to HOW TO CONNECT OR DISCONNECT AIRBAG CONNECTOR [11/2021 - ]

      2. Remove the nuts, and remove the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly.
