Removal [03/2019 - 06/2021]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 
    NOTE:

    Make sure to select face mode before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

  2. RECOVER REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM (for HFC-134a (R134a)) 

    See step  1

  3. RECOVER REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM (for HFO-1234yf (R1234yf)) 

    See step  1 [01/2019 - 06/2020], or see step  1 [06/2020 - ]

  4. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR AND LINK ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [01/2019 - 09/2019] , or refer to REMOVAL [09/2019 - 09/2022]

  5. REMOVE NO. 1 HEATER AIR DUCT SPLASH SHIELD SEAL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  6. REMOVE OUTER COWL TOP PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  7. DISCONNECT OUTLET HEATER WATER HOSE 
    1. Using pliers, grip the claws of the clip and slide the clip to disconnect the outlet heater water hose.

      NOTE:
      • Do not apply excessive force to the outlet heater water hose.
      • Prepare a drain pan or cloth in case the coolant leaks.
  8. DISCONNECT INLET HEATER WATER HOSE 
    1. Using pliers, grip the claws of the clip and slide the clip to disconnect the inlet heater water hose.
      NOTE:
      • Do not apply excessive force to the inlet heater water hose.
      • Prepare a drain pan or cloth in case the coolant leaks.

  9. DISCONNECT SUCTION PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/o Sub-cool Accelerator) 
    1. Remove the bolt and rotate the hook connector as shown in the illustration.

    2. Disconnect the suction pipe sub-assembly.

    3. Remove the O-ring from the suction pipe sub-assembly.
      NOTE:

      Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent entry of moisture and foreign matter.

  10. DISCONNECT COOLER REFRIGERANT LIQUID PIPE A (w/o Sub-cool Accelerator) 
    1. Disconnect the cooler refrigerant liquid pipe A.

    2. Remove the O-ring from the cooler refrigerant liquid pipe A.
      NOTE:

      Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent entry of moisture and foreign matter.

  11. DISCONNECT SUCTION PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/ Sub-cool Accelerator) 
    1. Remove the bolt and rotate the hook connector as shown in the illustration.

    2. Disconnect the suction pipe sub-assembly.

    3. Remove the 2 O-rings from the suction pipe sub-assembly.
      NOTE:

      Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent entry of moisture and foreign matter.

  12. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY LH 

    for Manual Seat:

    Refer to REMOVAL [03/2019 - 09/2022]

    for Power Seat:

    Refer to REMOVAL [03/2019 - 09/2022]

  13. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  14. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [03/2019 - 09/2019] , or refer to REMOVAL [09/2019 - 04/2020] , or refer to REMOVAL [04/2020 - 09/2022]

  15. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [03/2019 - 06/2021]

  16. REMOVE ECU INTEGRATION BOX RH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 13

  17. REMOVE METER MIRROR SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/ Headup Display) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  18. REMOVE COOLER (ROOM TEMP. SENSOR) THERMISTOR (for Automatic Air Conditioning System) 
    1. Disconnect the connector and aspirator to remove the cooler (room temp. sensor) thermistor.

  19. REMOVE FUEL LID LOCK OPEN LEVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Hatchback) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 23

  20. REMOVE FUEL LID LOCK OPEN LEVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Sedan) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 25 [03/2019 - 04/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 26 [04/2020 - 09/2022]

  21. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR CAUTION PLATE COVER 
    1. Lift the front floor caution plate cover as shown by the arrow (1) to disengage the claw, and then pull the front floor caution plate cover as shown by the arrow (2) in the illustration to disengage the guide and remove it.

  22. DISCONNECT FRONT FLOOR CARPET ASSEMBLY 
    1. for LH Side:
      1. Remove the front floor carpet clip.

      3. Disengage the 2 guides and turn back the front floor carpet assembly as shown in the illustration.

  23. REMOVE REAR NO. 4 AIR DUCT (w/ Rear Air Duct) 
    1. Disengage the 2 claws and remove the rear No. 4 air duct as shown in the illustration.

  24. REMOVE REAR NO. 3 AIR DUCT (w/ Rear Air Duct)

      Disengage the 2 claws and remove the rear No. 3 air duct as shown in the illustration.

  25. REMOVE REAR NO. 6 AIR DUCT (w/ Rear Air Duct) 
    1. Disengage the 2 claws and remove the rear No. 6 air duct as shown in the illustration.

  26. REMOVE REAR NO. 5 AIR DUCT (w/ Rear Air Duct) 
    1. Disengage the 2 claws and remove the rear No. 5 air duct as shown in the illustration.

  27. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 AIR DUCT (w/ Rear Air Duct) 
    1. Disengage the 4 claws and remove the rear No. 2 air duct as shown in the illustration.

  28. REMOVE NO. 3 DASH PANEL INSULATOR PAD 
    1. Cut each claw of the 2 clips and remove the No. 3 dash panel insulator pad.

      *a Cut
      NOTE:

      If the No. 3 dash panel insulator pad is damaged, replace it with a new one.

    2. Remove the 2 clips.
  29. REMOVE CENTER HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disengage the clamp.

    2. Remove the 2 clips and center heater to register duct sub-assembly.
  30. REMOVE LOWER DEFROSTER NOZZLE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disengage the 6 claws and guide to remove the lower defroster nozzle assembly.

  31. REMOVE NO. 3 INSTRUMENT PANEL TO COWL BRACE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the bolt, nut and No. 3 instrument panel to cowl brace sub-assembly.

  32. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY WITH MAIN BODY ECU 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11

  33. DISCONNECT INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE 
    1. Remove the 2 nuts and disconnect the relay block holder.

    2. Remove the bolt and disconnect the instrument panel wire.

    3. Disconnect each connector.

      *A w/ PTC Heater - -
      *a Earth Wire - -

    4. w/ PTC Heater:
      1. Remove the bolt and disconnect the earth wire.
    5. Remove the 3 bolts and disconnect the 3 earth wires.
    6. Remove the screw and disconnect the instrument panel wire.
    7. Disengage each clamp.
    8. Push down the part (A) in the direction indicated by the arrow (1), to release the lock, and then move the lock lever in the direction indicated by the arrow (2) shown in the illustration to disconnect the connector.

      NOTE:

      When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

    9. Disengage each clamp to separate the instrument panel wire.
  34. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL BRACE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Turn back the front floor mat as shown in the illustration.

    2. Remove the bolt and disconnect the earth wire.

    4. Remove the bolt, screw, nut and No. 1 instrument panel brace sub-assembly.

    1. Turn back the front floor mat as shown in the illustration.

  36. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL REINFORCEMENT ASSEMBLY WITH AIR CONDITIONER UNIT ASSEMBLY 
    NOTE:
    • Be sure to support the air conditioner unit assembly when removing it. Failure to do so may cause the bracket of the air conditioner unit assembly to break.
    • When disassembling the air conditioner unit assembly, eliminate static electricity by touching the vehicle body to prevent the components from being damaged.
    1. Turn back the front floor mat as shown in the illustration.

    2. Disconnect the drain cooler hose.

      *1 Cooler Unit Drain Hose Grommet
      NOTE:

      If the drain cooler hose is disconnected from the cooler unit drain hose grommet, make sure to replace the cooler unit drain hose grommet with a new one. Failure to do so may lead to water ingress.

    3. Remove the cooler unit drain hose grommet.

    4. Remove the 2 bolts.

    5. Remove the 4 bolts (A).

    6. Remove the bolt (B).
    7. for Manual Transaxle:
      1. Remove the bolt (C).
    8. Remove the nut.
    9. Disengage each clamp.

    10. Disconnect each connector.
    11. Remove the instrument panel reinforcement assembly with air conditioner unit assembly as shown in the illustration.
    12. Disengage the claw and 2 guides to disconnect the ID code box (immobiliser code ECU) as shown in the illustration.

  37. REMOVE AIR CONDITIONER UNIT ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 3 bolts.

    2. Disengage the 2 claws and remove the air conditioner unit assembly from the instrument panel reinforcement assembly.
