DTC B1498-87: A/C Inverter Local Missing Message [09/2022 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR DTC (HYBRID CONTROL) 
    1. Check for DTCs.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      P058A-01 and P162B-87 are not output A
      P058A-01 or P162B-87 is output B

    Result:

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMPRESSOR WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY - AUXILIARY BATTERY AND BODY GROUND) 
    WARNING:

    Do not disconnect the connector on the high-voltage side.

    NOTE:

    As other DTCs will be stored when the ignition switch is turned to ON with the connector disconnected, be sure to clear the DTCs after the inspection.

    1. Disconnect the C96 compressor with motor assembly connector.

      (to Compressor with Motor Assembly)
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C96-1 (IG1) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C96-2 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMPRESSOR WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY - HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the C96 compressor with motor assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the A161 hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C96-3 (DOUT) - A161-16 (LIN3) Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. INSPECT HV AIR CONDITIONING WIRE 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Disconnect the X1 compressor with motor assembly connector.
    2. Remove the HV air conditioning wire from the inverter with converter assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [09/2022 - ]

      NOTE:

      Make sure that no foreign matter, water, etc., enters the inverter with converter assembly.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (for 2WD)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      X1-2 (PB) - X3-1 (ACPB) Always Below 1 Ω

      Standard Resistance (for 4WD)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      X1-2 (PB) - X4-1 (ACPB) Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

  5. INSPECT HV AIR CONDITIONING WIRE 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Disconnect the X1 compressor with motor assembly connector.
    2. Remove the HV air conditioning wire from the inverter with converter assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [09/2022 - ]

      NOTE:

      Make sure that no foreign matter, water, etc., enters the inverter with converter assembly.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (for 2WD)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      X1-1 (PE) - X3-2 (ACPE) Always Below 1 Ω

      Standard Resistance (for 4WD)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      X1-1 (PE) - X4-2 (ACPE) Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE COMPRESSOR WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [09/2022 - 11/2022] , or refer to REMOVAL [11/2022 - ]

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE HV AIR CONDITIONING WIRE 

    Refer to REMOVAL [09/2022 - ]

  6. INSPECT HV AIR CONDITIONING WIRE 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Disconnect the X1 compressor with motor assembly connector.
    2. Remove the HV air conditioning wire from the inverter with converter assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [09/2022 - ]

      NOTE:

      Make sure that no foreign matter, water, etc., enters the inverter with converter assembly.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      X1-2 (PB) - Other terminals and body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE COMPRESSOR WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY AND HV AIR CONDITIONING WIRE 

    Compressor with motor assembly: 

    HV air conditioning wire: 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE HV AIR CONDITIONING WIRE 

    Refer to REMOVAL [09/2022 - ]

  7. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Disconnect the A162 battery state sensor assembly connector.
    2. Check for DTCs.

      Body Electrical > Air Conditioner > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      B1498-87 is not output A
      B1498-87 is output B

    Result: 

    REPLACE BATTERY STATE SENSOR ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [09/2022 - 11/2022] , or refer to REMOVAL [11/2022 - ]

  8. CHECK FOR DTC (HYBRID CONTROL) 
    1. Connect the A162 battery state sensor assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the C96 compressor with motor assembly connector.
    3. Check for DTCs.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      P058A-01 and P162B-87 are not output A
      P058A-01 or P162B-87 is output B

    Result: 

    REPLACE COMPRESSOR WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [09/2022 - 11/2022] , or refer to REMOVAL [11/2022 - ]

  9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMPRESSOR WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY - HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the A161 hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the C96 compressor with motor assembly connector.
    3. Disconnect the A162 battery state sensor assembly connector.
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A161-16 (LIN3) - C96-3 (DOUT) Always Below 1 Ω
      A161-16 (LIN3) - A162-2 (LIN) Always Below 1 Ω
      A161-16 (LIN3) - Other terminals and body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      C96-3 (DOUT) - Other terminals and body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A162-2 (LIN) - Other terminals and body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU 

    Refer to REMOVAL [09/2022 - ]

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
