Removal [11/2022 - ]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION

      *a Cord

      When removing and storing the fuel tank assembly, arrange the fuel tank filler pipe assembly as shown in the illustration, and secure the fuel tank assembly using a cord or similar.

      NOTE:

      Depending on the arrangement of the fuel tank filler pipe assembly during storage, the fuel tank filler pipe assembly and rear suspension may interfere and cause fuel leakage.

  2. REMOVE FUEL SUCTION TUBE WITH PUMP AND GAUGE ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [11/2022 - ] 

  3. DRAIN FUEL 
  4. REMOVE REAR WHEEL 

    Refer to REMOVAL [09/2022 - ]

  5. REMOVE REAR WHEEL HOUSE LINER LH 
    1. w/ Rear Wheel House Front Plate:

      Remove the rear wheel house front plate.

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

      Remove the No. 2 floor under cover (for 2WD).

      1. Remove the 6 clips (A).
      2. Turn the 4 clips (B), clip (C) and remove the No. 2 floor under cover.
        NOTE:

        If the 5 clips are not turned when the No. 2 floor under cover is removed, the No. 2 floor under cover or stud bolt may be damaged.

        HINT: 

        Do not remove the clips from the No. 2 floor under cover.

      Remove the No. 2 floor under cover (for 4WD).

      1. Remove the 6 clips (A).
      2. Turn the 2 clips (B), 3 clips (C) and remove the No. 2 floor under cover.
        NOTE:

        If the 5 clips are not turned when the No. 2 floor under cover is removed, the No. 2 floor under cover or stud bolt may be damaged.

        HINT: 

        Do not remove the clips from the No. 2 floor under cover.

    4. Remove the 3 clips (A), clip (B), clip (C) and rear bumper side seal LH.

    5. w/o Rear Wheel House Front Plate:

      Remove the clip (A), 8 clips (B), 2 screws (C) and screw (D).

    6. w/ Rear Wheel House Front Plate:

      Remove the clip (A), 8 clips (B) and 2 screws (C).

    7. Remove the clip and rear wheel house liner LH.

  6. REMOVE TAIL EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [01/2019 - ]

  7. REMOVE REAR FLOOR SIDE MEMBER COVER LH (w/ Cover) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  8. REMOVE REAR FLOOR SIDE MEMBER COVER RH (w/ Cover) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  9. REMOVE FUEL TANK CAP ASSEMBLY

    1. Remove the fuel tank cap assembly from the fuel tank filler pipe assembly.
  10. DISCONNECT FUEL TANK FILLER PIPE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the bolt.

    2. Disengage the clamp.
    3. Disconnect the fuel tank filler pipe air tube from fuel tank vent hose sub-assembly with charcoal canister assembly.

      Refer to PRECAUTION [09/2022 - ]

    4. Disengage the locations shown in the illustration, and disconnect the fuel tank filler pipe assembly from the vehicle body.

  11. REMOVE NO. 1 FUEL TANK PROTECTOR 
    1. Remove the 4 clips and No. 1 fuel tank protector from the fuel tank assembly.

  12. DISCONNECT FUEL TANK VENT HOSE SUB-ASSEMBLY (for 2WD) 
    1. Disconnect the fuel tank vent hose sub-assembly from the close tank valve sub-assembly.

      Refer to PRECAUTION [09/2022 - ]

  13. DISCONNECT FUEL TANK MAIN TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the fuel tank main tube sub-assembly from the fuel pipe.

      *A for 2WD
      *B for 4WD

      Refer to PRECAUTION [09/2022 - ]

  14. REMOVE FUEL TANK ASSEMBLY 
    WARNING:

    The fuel tank assembly is very heavy. Be sure to follow the procedure described in the repair information, or the fuel tank assembly may fall off the engine lifter.

    1. Support the fuel tank assembly using an engine lifter.

      HINT: 

      Using height adjustment attachments and plate lift attachments, keep the fuel tank assembly horizontal.

    2. Remove the 4 bolts.

    3. Lower the engine lifter to remove the fuel tank assembly.
      NOTE:
      • Be careful not to drop the fuel tank assembly.
      • When removing the fuel tank assembly, tilt it slightly to prevent it from interfering with the surrounding parts.
  15. REMOVE FUEL TANK MAIN TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY

      for 2WD

      1. Disengage the 3 clamps to remove the fuel tank main tube sub-assembly from the fuel tank assembly.

      for 4WD

      1. Disengage the 4 clamps to remove the fuel tank main tube sub-assembly from the fuel tank assembly.
  16. REMOVE FUEL TANK VENT HOSE SUB-ASSEMBLY (for 2WD) 
    1. Disengage the 2 clamps to remove the fuel tank vent hose sub-assembly from the fuel tank assembly.
