Electric Parking Brake does not Operate [01/2019 - 09/2022]: Procedure

  1. CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM 
    1. Check if CAN communication system DTCs are output.

      Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM [01/2019 - 04/2020] , or refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM [04/2020 - 09/2022]

      DTCs are not output A
      DTCs are output B

    Result: 

    GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [01/2019 - 09/2022]

  2. VEHICLE OPERATION CHECK 
    1. When the vehicle's tires are lifted off the ground and the Techstream is used to operate the electric parking brake, check the condition of the rear tires.

      Refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION [01/2019 - 09/2022]

      Lock and release operation is normal and parking brake indicator light turns off or blinks (red) A
      Lock and release operation is malfunctioning and parking brake indicator light illuminates (red) or turns off according to switch operation B
      Lock and release operation is malfunctioning and parking brake indicator light turns off or blinks (red) C

  3. PERFORM TECHSTREAM (PARKING BRAKE LIGHT) 
    1. Turn the power switch off.
    2. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    3. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    4. Turn the Techstream on.
    5. Enter the following menus: Chassis / Electric Parking Brake / Active Test.
    6. Perform the Active Test according to the display on the Techstream.

      Chassis > Electric Parking Brake > Active Test

      • Power switch on (IG)

    7. Select the Data List on the Techstream.

      Chassis > Electric Parking Brake > Data List

      Light: Parking brake indicator light (red) illuminates

    8. Check the operating condition of the parking brake indicator light (red) when operating it using the Techstream.

    REPLACE PARKING BRAKE ECU (BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY). Refer to  REMOVAL [01/2019 - 09/2022]

  4. INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Perform the Active Test of the combination meter assembly using the Techstream.

      Body Electrical > Combination Meter > Active Test

    2. Check the combination meter assembly.

      OK

      Parking brake indicator light (red) turns on or off in accordance with Techstream operation.

      Result

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE PARKING BRAKE ECU (BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY). Refer to  REMOVAL [01/2019 - 09/2022]

    NG 

    GO TO METER / GAUGE SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [01/2019 - 09/2022] 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BEPB CIRCUIT) 
    1. Turn the power switch off.
    2. Disconnect the A113 parking brake ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AUXILIARY BATTERY - PARKING BRAKE ECU (BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY)) 
    1. Turn the power switch off.
    2. Disconnect the A113 parking brake ECU (brake actuator assembly) connector.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
