DTC B242F: Open in B Power Line [06/2018 - 09/2022]: Procedure

  1. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / AFS or AFS (Sub) / Trouble Codes.
    5. Clear the DTCs.

      Body Electrical > AFS > Clear DTCs 

      Body Electrical > AFS (Sub) > Clear DTCs 

      Result

      Proceed to
      NEXT

    Result: 

    NEXT

  2. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Wait 10 seconds or more.
    4. Turn the Techstream on.
    5. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / AFS or AFS (Sub) / Trouble Codes.
    6. Check for DTCs.

      Body Electrical > AFS > Trouble Codes 

      Body Electrical > AFS (Sub) > Trouble Codes 

      OK

      DTC B242F is not output.

      Result

  3. INSPECT HEADLIGHT UNIT ASSEMBLY LH (HEADLIGHT CORD)

    *1 Headlight Unit Assembly LH (Headlight Cord) - -
    *a Component without harness connected
    (to Headlight ECU Sub-assembly LH)
    *b Component without harness connected
    (to Wire Harness)
    1. Remove the headlight unit assembly LH.

      Refer to DISASSEMBLY [06/2018 - 01/2019] , or refer to DISASSEMBLY [01/2019 - 03/2019] , or refer to DISASSEMBLY [03/2019 - 09/2022]

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A23-1 - A-13 (ECUB) Always Below 1 Ω
      A23-4 - A-12 (GND) Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:

    REPLACE HEADLIGHT UNIT ASSEMBLY LH. Refer to  DISASSEMBLY [06/2018 - 01/2019]  , or refer to  DISASSEMBLY [01/2019 - 03/2019]  , or refer to  DISASSEMBLY [03/2019 - 09/2022]

  4. INSPECT HEADLIGHT ECU SUB-ASSEMBLY LH (ECUB TERMINAL VOLTAGE)

    (to Headlight ECU Sub-assembly LH)
    1. Disconnect the A headlight ECU sub-assembly LH connector.
    2. Connect the A23 headlight unit assembly LH connector.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A-13 (ECUB) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 9.5 to 14 V

      Proceed to

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HEADLIGHT ECU SUB-ASSEMBLY LH - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      A-12 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    REPLACE HEADLIGHT ECU SUB-ASSEMBLY LH. Refer to  REMOVAL [06/2018 - 09/2022]

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  6. INSPECT NO. 1 INTEGRATION RELAY 
    1. Remove the No. 1 integration relay.

      Refer to REMOVAL [06/2018 - 01/2019] , or refer to REMOVAL [01/2019 - 03/2019] , or refer to REMOVAL [03/2019 - 09/2022]

    2. Inspect the No. 1 integration relay.

      Refer to INSPECTION [06/2018 - 01/2019] , or refer to INSPECTION [01/2019 - 09/2022]

      Result

      Proceed to

      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE NO. 1 INTEGRATION RELAY. Refer to  REMOVAL [06/2018 - 01/2019]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [01/2019 - 03/2019]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [03/2019 - 09/2022]

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NO. 1 INTEGRATION RELAY - HEADLIGHT UNIT ASSEMBLY LH (HEADLIGHT CORD)) 
    1. Disconnect the A23 headlight unit assembly LH connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1B-1 - A23-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      1B-1 or A23-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    1. Disconnect the 4B instrument panel junction block assembly connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      1B-2 - 4B-31 Always Below 1 Ω
      1B-2 or 4B-31 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  10. INSPECT INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY

    1. Remove the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) from the instrument panel junction block assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [06/2018 - 01/2019] , or refer to REMOVAL [01/2019 - 03/2019] , or refer to REMOVAL [03/2019 - 09/2022]

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      4B-31 - MB-15 (HRLY) Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

    Result:

    REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU). Refer to  REMOVAL [06/2018 - 01/2019]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [01/2019 - 03/2019]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [03/2019 - 09/2022] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [06/2018 - 01/2019]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [01/2019 - 03/2019]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [03/2019 - 09/2022] 

  11. INSPECT HEADLIGHT UNIT ASSEMBLY RH (HEADLIGHT CORD)

    1. Remove the headlight unit assembly RH.

      Refer to DISASSEMBLY [06/2018 - 01/2019] , or refer to DISASSEMBLY [01/2019 - 03/2019] , or refer to DISASSEMBLY [03/2019 - 09/2022]

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A22-1 - A-13 (ECUB) Always Below 1 Ω
      A22-4 - A-12 (GND) Always Below 1 Ω

  12. INSPECT HEADLIGHT ECU SUB-ASSEMBLY RH (ECUB TERMINAL VOLTAGE)

    1. Disconnect the A headlight ECU sub-assembly RH connector.
    2. Connect the A22 headlight unit assembly RH connector.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A-13 (ECUB) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 9.5 to 14 V

      Result

  14. INSPECT NO. 1 INTEGRATION RELAY 
    1. Remove the No. 1 integration relay.

      Refer to REMOVAL [06/2018 - 01/2019] , or refer to REMOVAL [01/2019 - 03/2019] , or refer to REMOVAL [03/2019 - 09/2022]

    2. Inspect the No. 1 integration relay.

      Refer to INSPECTION [06/2018 - 01/2019] , or refer to INSPECTION [01/2019 - 09/2022]

      Result

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      1A-11 or I85-12 (HRY2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
