DTC B242E: Open in IG Circuit [06/2018 - 09/2022]: Procedure

  1. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / AFS or AFS (Sub) / Trouble Codes.
    5. Clear the DTCs.

      Body Electrical > AFS > Clear DTCs 

      Body Electrical > AFS (Sub) > Clear DTCs 

      Result

      Proceed to
      NEXT

    Result: 

    NEXT

  2. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Wait 10 seconds or more.
    4. Turn the Techstream on.
    5. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / AFS or AFS (Sub) / Trouble Codes.
    6. Check for DTCs.

      Body Electrical > AFS > Trouble Codes 

      Body Electrical > AFS (Sub) > Trouble Codes 

      OK

      DTC B242E is not output.

      Result

  3. INSPECT HEADLIGHT UNIT ASSEMBLY LH (HEADLIGHT CORD)

    *1 Headlight Unit Assembly LH (Headlight Cord) - -
    *a Component without harness connected
    (to Headlight ECU Sub-assembly LH)    		 *b Component without harness connected
    (to Wire Harness)
    1. Remove the headlight unit assembly LH.

      Refer to DISASSEMBLY [06/2018 - 01/2019] , or refer to DISASSEMBLY [01/2019 - 03/2019] , or refer to DISASSEMBLY [03/2019 - 09/2022]

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A23-3 - A-4 (IG) Always Below 1 Ω
      A23-4 - A-12 (GND) Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE HEADLIGHT UNIT ASSEMBLY LH. Refer to  DISASSEMBLY [06/2018 - 01/2019]  , or refer to  DISASSEMBLY [01/2019 - 03/2019]  , or refer to  DISASSEMBLY [03/2019 - 09/2022] 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. INSPECT HEADLIGHT ECU SUB-ASSEMBLY LH (IG TERMINAL VOLTAGE)

    *a Front view of wire harness connector
    (to Headlight ECU Sub-assembly LH)
    1. Disconnect the A headlight ECU sub-assembly LH connector.
    2. Connect the A23 headlight unit assembly LH connector.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A-4 (IG) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HEADLIGHT ECU SUB-ASSEMBLY LH - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A-12 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE HEADLIGHT ECU SUB-ASSEMBLY LH. Refer to  REMOVAL [06/2018 - 09/2022] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  6. INSPECT HEADLIGHT UNIT ASSEMBLY RH (HEADLIGHT CORD)

    *1 Headlight Unit Assembly RH (Headlight Cord) - -
    *a Component without harness connected
    (to Headlight ECU Sub-assembly RH)    		 *b Component without harness connected
    (to Wire Harness)
    1. Remove the headlight unit assembly RH.

      Refer to DISASSEMBLY [06/2018 - 01/2019] , or refer to DISASSEMBLY [01/2019 - 03/2019] , or refer to DISASSEMBLY [03/2019 - 09/2022]

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A22-3 - A-4 (IG) Always Below 1 Ω
      A22-4 - A-12 (GND) Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE HEADLIGHT UNIT ASSEMBLY RH. Refer to  DISASSEMBLY [06/2018 - 01/2019]  , or refer to  DISASSEMBLY [01/2019 - 03/2019]  , or refer to  DISASSEMBLY [03/2019 - 09/2022] 

    Result: 

    OK

  7. INSPECT HEADLIGHT ECU SUB-ASSEMBLY RH (IG TERMINAL VOLTAGE)

    (to Headlight ECU Sub-assembly RH)
    1. Disconnect the A headlight ECU sub-assembly RH connector.
    2. Connect the A22 headlight unit assembly RH connector.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A-4 (IG) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
