Drive Mode Select Switch Circuit [01/2019 - 09/2022]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (CAN BUS CHECK)

    All of the ECUs and sensors that are currently connected to the CAN communication system are displayed A
    None of the ECUs and sensors that are currently connected to the CAN communication system are displayed, or some of them are not displayed B

    GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [01/2019 - 09/2022]

  2. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HEALTH CHECK)

    No DTCs are output A
    DTCs are output B

    Result: 

    GO TO DTC CHART. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [01/2019 - 04/2020]  , or Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [04/2020 - 09/2022]

  3. CHECK DRIVE MODE STATUS 
    1. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    2. Operate the drive mode select switch (combination switch assembly) to change the drive mode.
    3. Check that the drive mode indicator is displayed on the multi-information display and changes according to the selected drive mode.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      The display changes according to the drive mode select switch operation A
      The display does not change according to the drive mode select switch operation B
    4. Turn the power switch off.

    Result: 

    GO TO PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [01/2019 - 09/2022]

  4. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (POWERTRAIN DRIVE MODE SWITCH) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Powertrain Drive Mode Switch.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Data List 

      Tester Display
      Powertrain Drive Mode Switch
    5. Read the value displayed on the Techstream.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control 

      Tester Display Measurement Item Range Normal Condition
      Powertrain Drive Mode Switch Drive mode select switch condition ON or OFF Drive mode select switch being pushed and held: ON
      Drive mode select switch not operated: OFF

      Result

    6. Turn the power switch off.

    Result: 

    CHECK METER / GAUGE SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [01/2019 - 09/2022]

  5. INSPECT DRIVE MODE SELECT SWITCH (COMBINATION SWITCH ASSEMBLY) 

    Refer to INSPECTION [01/2019 - ]

    REPLACE COMBINATION SWITCH ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [01/2019 - ]

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DRIVE MODE SELECT SWITCH (COMBINATION SWITCH ASSEMBLY) - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the I61 drive mode select switch (combination switch assembly) connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I61-5 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Reconnect the I61 drive mode select switch (combination switch assembly) connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - DRIVE MODE SELECT SWITCH (COMBINATION SWITCH ASSEMBLY)) 
    1. Disconnect the I3 hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the I61 drive mode select switch (combination switch assembly) connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      (to Drive Mode Select Switch (Combination Switch Assembly))

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I3-37 (PDRV) - I61-6 (DRV) Always Below 1 Ω
      I3-37 (PDRV) or I61-6 (DRV) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reconnect the I61 drive mode select switch (combination switch assembly) connector.
    5. Reconnect the I3 hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [01/2019 - 04/2020]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [04/2020 - 09/2022]
