DTC P1603: Engine Stall History [03/2019 - 11/2022]: Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR ANY OTHER DTCS OUTPUT 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.
    5. Read the DTCs.

      Powertrain > Engine and ECT > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Only DTC P1603 is output A
      DTCs other than P1603 are output B

      HINT: 

      • When DTC P1603 and P1605 are output simultaneously, perform the troubleshooting for P1605 first.
      • Using Freeze Frame Data, confirm the conditions the moment the DTC was stored and after the DTC was stored. This information can be useful when troubleshooting.

    Result: 

    GO TO DTC CHART. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [03/2019 - 04/2020]  , or refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [04/2020 - 09/2022]  , or refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [09/2022 - 11/2022]

  2. READ FREEZE FRAME DATA (ISC LEARNING VALUE) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Using the Techstream, confirm the vehicle conditions recorded in the Freeze Frame Data which were present when the DTC was stored.

      Powertrain > Engine and ECT > DTC (P1603) > Freeze Frame Data

      ISC Learning Value Less than 6.2 L/s - Go to the next step A
      6.2 L/s or higher Throttle body assembly Go to Engine Stalls (from step 11) B

    Result: 

    GO TO ENGINE STALLS. Refer to  Engine Stalls [01/2019 - 11/2022]

  3. READ FREEZE FRAME DATA (AFS VOLTAGE B1S1, SHORT FT B1S1 AND LONG FT B1S1) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Using the Techstream, confirm the vehicle conditions recorded in the Freeze Frame Data which were present when the DTC was stored.

      Powertrain > Engine and ECT > DTC (P1603) > Freeze Frame Data

      Short FT B1S1
      Long FT B1S1

      • Mass air flow meter sub-assembly
      • Air fuel ratio sensor
      • Fuel pump
      Go to Engine Stalls (from step 15)*

      HINT: 

      *: If the value of AFS Voltage B1S1, Short FT B1S1 or Long FT B1S1 is as specified, malfunction of a component listed in the "Suspected Area" column of the table is suspected.

    Result:
