DTC P1586: Acceleration Sensor Malfunction [01/2019 - 11/2022]: Description

The ECM determines the vehicle inclination based on a signal from the yaw rate and acceleration sensor. If a malfunction is determined in the yaw rate and acceleration sensor (airbag sensor assembly) based on a malfunction signal from the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly), the ECM stores this DTC.

P1586 Acceleration Sensor Malfunction Either of the following conditions is met for 3 seconds or more (1-trip detection logic):
  • At a vehicle speed 30 km/h (19 mph) or more, the difference between longitudinal G calculated based on the yaw rate and acceleration sensor (G sensor) value and longitudinal G calculated based on the vehicle speed exceeds 0.35 G for 60 seconds or more.
  • The yaw rate and acceleration sensor signal does not change 16 times or more while the vehicle speed decreases from 30 km/h (19 mph) to 0 km/h (0 mph).
  • Airbag sensor assembly (Yaw rate and acceleration sensor)
  • Brake actuator assembly (Skid control ECU)
  • CAN communication system

DTC DETECTION CONDITION PATTERNS:

Diagnostic Condition A vehicle speed is 30 km/h (19 mph) or more. -
The vehicle speed decreases from 30 km/h (19 mph) to 0 km/h (0 mph). -
Malfunction Condition The difference between longitudinal G calculated based on the yaw rate and acceleration sensor (G sensor) value and longitudinal G calculated based on the vehicle speed exceeds 0.35 G for 60 seconds or more. -
The yaw rate and acceleration sensor signal does not change 16 times or more. -
Duration 3 seconds or more 3 seconds or more
