Reassembly [09/2024 - ]: Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2025 Toyota GR Corolla. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. INSTALL FRONT DIFFERENTIAL CASE FRONT TAPERED ROLLER BEARING (INNER RACE)
    1. Using SST and a press, install a new front differential case front tapered roller bearing (inner race) to the differential case assembly.

      NOTE:
      • Do not damage the front differential case front tapered roller bearing (inner race) cage when installing the front differential case front tapered roller bearing (inner race).
      • Be sure to install the front differential case front tapered roller bearing (inner race) so that there is no clearance between the front differential case front tapered roller bearing (inner race) and the differential case assembly. If there is any clearance, the turning torque of the differential case assembly cannot be measured correctly.
  2. INSTALL FRONT DIFFERENTIAL CASE FRONT TAPERED ROLLER BEARING (OUTER RACE)
    1. Using SST and a hammer, install the differential drive pinion shim and a new front differential case front tapered roller bearing (outer race) to the transaxle housing.

      NOTE:

Be sure to install the front differential case front tapered roller bearing (outer race) so that there is no clearance between the front differential case front tapered roller bearing (outer race), differential drive pinion shim and the transaxle housing. If there is any clearance, the turning torque of the differential case assembly cannot be measured correctly.

  3. INSTALL FRONT DIFFERENTIAL CASE REAR TAPERED ROLLER BEARING (INNER RACE)
    1. Using SST and a press, install a new front differential case rear tapered roller bearing (inner race) to the differential case assembly.

  4. INSTALL FRONT DIFFERENTIAL CASE REAR TAPERED ROLLER BEARING (OUTER RACE)
    1. Using SST and a hammer, install a new front differential case rear tapered roller bearing (outer race) to the automatic transaxle case sub-assembly.
