Disassembly [09/2024 - ]: Procedure

  1. REMOVE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SHAFT LEVER 
    1. Remove the nut, washer and transmission control shaft lever from the manual valve lever shaft sub-assembly.

  2. REMOVE PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and park/neutral position switch assembly from the automatic transaxle case sub-assembly.

  3. REMOVE REFILL PLUG 
    1. Remove the refill plug and gasket from the automatic transaxle case sub-assembly.

  4. REMOVE OVERFLOW PLUG 
    1. Using a 10 mm hexagon socket wrench, remove the overflow plug and gasket from the transaxle housing.

  5. REMOVE NO. 1 TRANSMISSION OIL FILLER TUBE 
    1. Using a 6 mm hexagon socket wrench, remove the No. 1 transmission oil filler tube from the transaxle housing.

  6. REMOVE OIL COOLER UNION SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the bolt to separate the oil cooler union sub-assembly bracket portion from the automatic transaxle case sub-assembly.

    2. Remove the 2 oil cooler union bolts and 4 gaskets to remove the oil cooler union sub-assembly from the automatic transaxle case sub-assembly.
  7. REMOVE TRANSMISSION CASE SIDE COVER 
    1. Remove the 10 bolts and transmission case side cover from the automatic transaxle case sub-assembly.

  8. REMOVE TRANSMISSION WIRE 
    1. Disengage the clamp to disconnect the transmission wire from the solenoid lock plate.

    2. Disconnect the 9 solenoid valve connectors.

      HINT: 

      • Using a screwdriver, disconnect the solenoid valve connector (A) using the procedure shown in the illustration.
      • Using a screwdriver, disconnect the solenoid valve connector (B) using the procedure shown in the illustration.
    3. Remove the bolt and temperature sensor clamp and disconnect the temperature sensor from the transmission valve body assembly.

    4. Disconnect the transmission revolution sensor (NT) connector and transmission revolution sensor (NC) connector.

    5. Remove the bolt and transmission wire from the automatic transaxle case sub-assembly.

  9. REMOVE TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disengage the clamp to disconnect the transmission revolution sensor (NC) wire connector.

    2. Remove the 9 bolts and transmission valve body assembly from the automatic transaxle case sub-assembly.

    4. Remove the transaxle case gasket from the counter drive gear sub-assembly.
    5. Remove the No. 1 front oil pump cover gasket from the front oil pump assembly.
    6. Remove the No. 2 front oil pump cover gasket from the front oil pump assembly.
  10. REMOVE TRANSMISSION REVOLUTION SENSOR (NT) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  11. REMOVE TRANSMISSION REVOLUTION SENSOR (NC) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  12. INSPECT INPUT SHAFT END PLAY

  13. REMOVE TRANSAXLE HOUSING 
    1. Remove the 21 bolts.

    2. Using a plastic hammer, tap on the circumference of the transaxle housing to remove it from the automatic transaxle case sub-assembly.

    3. Remove the 5 transaxle case gaskets from the front oil pump assembly.

      NOTE:

      To avoid damaging the bush of the front oil pump assembly, remove the transmission drive chain, transmission oil pump drive sprocket and oil pump drive shaft sub-assembly horizontally relative to the front oil pump assembly.

    1. Apply compressed air (392 kPa (4.0 kgf/cm2 , 57 psi)) to the oil hole of the clutch drum sub-assembly to remove the forward clutch piston from the clutch drum sub-assembly.

      NOTE:
      • Applying compressed air may cause the forward clutch piston to jump out. When removing the forward clutch piston, hold it by hand using a piece of cloth.
      • Be careful as ATF may spray when applying compressed air.
