DTC P161A: Lost Communication with Alternator [01/2019 - 11/2022]: Procedure

  1. CHECK CHARGING SYSTEM 
    1. Check the charging system.

      Refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION [01/2019 - 09/2022] , or refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION [09/2022 - 11/2022] 

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE CHARGING SYSTEM 

    Result: 

    OK

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (GENERATOR ASSEMBLY - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the C81 generator assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the C77 ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C81-2 (LIN) - C77-61 (LIN) Always Below 1 Ω
      C81-2 (LIN) or C77-61 (LIN) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE GENERATOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [01/2019 - 03/2019]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [03/2019 - 09/2022]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [09/2022 - 11/2022] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
