DTC P2BF4-12: Exhaust Flow Control Valve "A" Position Circuit High Circuit Short to Battery [09/2022 - 09/2024]: Procedure

  1. CHECK TERMINAL VOLTAGE (EXHAUST PIPE GAS CONTROL ACTUATOR SUB-ASSEMBLY)

    (to Exhaust Pipe Gas Control Actuator Sub-assembly)

    HINT: 

    Make sure that the connector is properly connected. If it is not, securely connect it and check for DTCs again.

    1. Disconnect the exhaust pipe gas control actuator sub-assembly connector.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      O173-1 (RHVC) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V

      HINT: 

      If the value differs from standard, there may be a short in the power source circuit.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (EXHAUST PIPE GAS CONTROL ACTUATOR SUB-ASSEMBLY- BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the exhaust pipe gas control actuator sub-assembly connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      O173-2 (RHE2) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE EXHAUST PIPE GAS CONTROL ACTUATOR SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [09/2022 - ]

    Result: 

    NG

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (EXHAUST PIPE GAS CONTROL ACTUATOR SUB-ASSEMBLY - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the exhaust pipe gas control actuator sub-assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      O173-2 (RHE2) - C143-22 (EEXA) Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE ECM 

    Refer to REMOVAL [09/2022 - 11/2022] , or refer to REMOVAL [11/2022 - 09/2024]

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (EXHAUST PIPE GAS CONTROL ACTUATOR SUB-ASSEMBLY - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the exhaust pipe gas control actuator sub-assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      O173-1 (RHVC) or C143-32 (VCEA) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE ECM 

    Refer to REMOVAL [09/2022 - 11/2022] , or refer to REMOVAL [11/2022 - 09/2024]

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
