Ambient Illumination Light Circuit [01/2019 - 09/2022]: Procedure

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Main Body / Active Test.
    5. Perform the Active Test according to the display on the Techstream.

      Body Electrical > Main Body > Active Test 

      Tester Display Measurement Item Control Range Diagnostic Note
      Fr Foot Light
      • Center tray illumination light (Instrument panel light assembly)
      • Cup holder light (Console box pocket garnish)
      OFF or ON Preconditions for using the Active Test to check dimmer controlled illumination:
      • Power switch on (IG)
      • Shift lever is in any position other than P

      Body Electrical > Main Body > Active Test

      Result

      NG (Center tray illumination light does not come on) B

  2. INSPECT CENTER TRAY ILLUMINATION LIGHT (INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHT ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Remove the center tray illumination light (instrument panel light assembly).

      Refer to REMOVAL [01/2019 - 11/2022]

    2. Inspect the center tray illumination light (instrument panel light assembly).

      Refer to INSPECTION [01/2019 - 11/2022]

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE CENTER TRAY ILLUMINATION LIGHT (INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHT ASSEMBLY). Refer to  REMOVAL [01/2019 - 11/2022] 

    Result: 

    OK

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CENTER TRAY ILLUMINATION LIGHT (INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHT ASSEMBLY) - INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the 4E and 4F instrument panel junction block assembly connectors.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I29-2 (B) - 4F-25 Always Below 1 Ω
      I29-1 (E) - 4E-37 Always Below 1 Ω
      I29-2 (B) or 4F-25 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      I29-1 (E) or 4E-37 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  4. CHECK INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY

    1. Disconnect the 4D instrument panel junction block assembly connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      4D-1 - 4F-25 Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to

      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [01/2019 - 03/2019]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [03/2019 - 09/2022]

  5. INSPECT INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY

    *a Component without harness connected
    (Instrument Panel Junction Block Assembly)
    - -
    1. Remove the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) from the instrument panel junction block assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [01/2019 - 03/2019] , or refer to REMOVAL [03/2019 - 09/2022]

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      4E-37 -MB-26 (FSPT) Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU). Refer to  REMOVAL [01/2019 - 03/2019]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [03/2019 - 09/2022] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [01/2019 - 03/2019]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [03/2019 - 09/2022] 

  6. INSPECT CUP HOLDER LIGHT (CONSOLE BOX POCKET GARNISH) 
    1. Remove the cup holder light (console box pocket garnish).

      Refer to REMOVAL [01/2019 - 11/2022]

    2. Inspect the cup holder light (console box pocket garnish).

      Refer to INSPECTION [01/2019 - 11/2022]

      Result

      Proceed to

      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE CUP HOLDER LIGHT (CONSOLE BOX POCKET GARNISH). Refer to  REMOVAL [01/2019 - 11/2022]

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CUP HOLDER LIGHT (CONSOLE BOX POCKET GARNISH) - INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the 4E and 4F instrument panel junction block assembly connectors.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I30-2 (B) - 4F-26 Always Below 1 Ω
      I30-1 (E) - 4E-36 Always Below 1 Ω
      I30-2 (B) or 4F-26 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      I30-1 (E) or 4E-36 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to

      NG

  9. INSPECT INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY

    1. Remove the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) from the instrument panel junction block assembly.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      4E-36 -MB-26 (FSPT) Always Below 1 Ω

    REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU). Refer to  REMOVAL [01/2019 - 03/2019]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [03/2019 - 09/2022]

    NG 

    REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [01/2019 - 03/2019]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [03/2019 - 09/2022] 

  10. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE - INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the 4D instrument panel junction block assembly connector.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      4D-1 - Body ground Power switch off 11 to 14 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  11. CHECK INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY
