Inspection [01/2019 - 11/2022]: Procedure

  1. INSPECT THERMOSTAT 
    WARNING:
    • Do not put your hands into the water that has been heated for the inspection.
    • Touching the heated water could result in burns.

    HINT: 

    The valve opening temperature is inscribed on the thermostat.

    1. Immerse the thermostat in water, and then gradually heat the water.
    2. Check that the valve of the thermostat opens at the specified temperature.

      Standard Valve Opening Temperature

      78 to 82°C (172 to 180°F)

      If the result is not as specified, replace the thermostat.

    3. Check the valve lift.

      Standard Valve Lift

      Item Condition Specified Condition
      Type A 93°C (199°F) 10 mm (0.394 in.) or more
      Type B 95°C (203°F) 10 mm (0.394 in.) to 14 mm (0.551 in.)

      *A for Type A
      *B for Type B
      *a Valve Lift

      If the result is not as specified, replace the thermostat.

    4. Check that the valve is fully closed when the thermostat is at low temperatures (below 75°C (167°F)).

      If not fully closed, replace the thermostat.
