DTC P0033-12: Turbocharger / Supercharger Bypass Valve "A" Control Circuit Short to Battery [09/2022 - 09/2024]: Procedure

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING GTS (ACTIVATE THE AIR BYPASS VALVE) 
    1. Enter the following menus.

      Powertrain > Engine > Active Test 

      Active Test Display
      Activate the Air Bypass Valve
      Data List Display
      Air Bypass Valve Control
    2. According to the display on the GTS, perform the Active Test and check the operation and operation sound of the air by-pass valve.

      OK

      Active Test Standard
      ON
      • ON is displayed for Data List item "Air Bypass Valve Control"
      • Air by-pass valve operates (operation sound is normal)

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS 

    Refer to CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS [09/2022 - ]

    Result: 

    NG

  2. INSPECT TURBOCHARGER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to INSPECTION [09/2022 - ]

    Result

    NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE TURBOCHARGER SUB-ASSEMBLY (AIR BY-PASS VALVE MALFUNCTION) 

    Refer to REMOVAL [09/2022 - ]

    Result: 

    OK

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AIR BY-PASS VALVE - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the air by-pass valve connector.
    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C140-2 (ABV) or C142-20 (ABV) - Other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. CHECK WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS (DTC P0033-12) 
    1. Clear the DTCs.

      Powertrain > Engine > Clear DTCs 

    2. Turn the ignition switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.
    3. Start the engine and warm it up.
    4. Drive the vehicle in accordance with the driving pattern described in the Confirmation Driving Pattern.
    5. Enter the following menus.

      Powertrain > Engine > Utility 

      Tester Display
      All Readiness
    6. Input the DTC: P0033-12.
    7. Check the DTC judgment result.

      Result

      NORMAL
      (DTCs are not output)

      (P0033-12 is output)

    Result:
