Shift Paddle Switch Circuit [11/2018 - 08/2020]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (SPORT SHIFT SWITCH STATUS) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List.
    5. According to the display on the Techstream, read the Data List.

      Powertrain > Engine > Data List 

      Tester Display Measurement Item Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Sport Shift Up SW Sport shift up switch status ON or OFF
      • ON: Shift lever held in "+" or "+" shift paddle switch operated
      • OFF: Shift lever not held in "+" and "+" shift paddle switch released

      • ON: Shift lever held in "-" or "-" shift paddle switch operated
      • OFF: Shift lever not held in "-" and "-" shift paddle switch released

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH CIRCUIT) 
    1. Disconnect the ECM connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A24-20 (SFTU) - A24-28 (ECCS) "+" (Up shift) shift paddle switch operated and held Below 2.5 Ω
      "+" (Up shift) shift paddle switch not operated 1 MΩ or higher
      A24-19 (SFTD) - A24-28 (ECCS) "-" (Down shift) shift paddle switch operated and held Below 2.5 Ω
      "-" (Down shift) shift paddle switch not operated 1 MΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECM - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the ECM connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A24-10 (E1) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [11/2018 - 02/2019]  , or refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [02/2019 - 08/2020] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (ECM - BODY GROUND) 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the spiral cable sub-assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A24-20 (SFTU) - G20-8 (SUP) Always Below 1 Ω
      A24-19 (SFTD) - G20-1 (SDN) Always Below 1 Ω
      A24-28 (ECCS) - G20-2 (ECC) Always Below 1 Ω
      A24-20 (SFTU) or G20-8 (SUP) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A24-19 (SFTD) or G20-1 (SDN) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A24-28 (ECCS) or G20-2 (ECC) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      NG

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY - ECM)

  5. INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Inspect the spiral cable sub-assembly.

      Refer to INSPECTION [11/2018 - 08/2020]

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2018 - 02/2019]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [02/2019 - 10/2019]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [10/2019 - 08/2020] 

    Result: 

    OK

  6. INSPECT SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH LH (NO. 1 TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Remove the shift paddle switch LH (No. 1 transmission shift switch assembly).

      Refer to REMOVAL [11/2018 - 10/2019] , or refer to REMOVAL [10/2019 - 08/2020]

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Shift Paddle Switch LH (No. 1 Transmission Shift Switch Assembly))
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A-1 (SDN) - A-2 (ECC) "-" (Down shift) shift paddle switch operated and held Below 2.5 Ω
      "-" (Down shift) shift paddle switch not operated 1 MΩ or higher
      A-1 (SDN) - A-3 (ECC') "-" (Down shift) shift paddle switch operated and held Below 2.5 Ω
      "-" (Down shift) shift paddle switch not operated 1 MΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:

    REPLACE SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH LH (NO. 1 TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH ASSEMBLY). Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2018 - 10/2019]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [10/2019 - 08/2020]

  7. INSPECT SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH RH (NO. 2 TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Remove the shift paddle switch RH (No. 2 transmission shift switch assembly).

      Refer to REMOVAL [11/2018 - 10/2019] , or refer to REMOVAL [10/2019 - 08/2020]

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      B-1 (SUP) - B-2 (ECC') "+" (Up shift) shift paddle switch operated and held Below 2.5 Ω
      "+" (Up shift) shift paddle switch not operated 1 MΩ or higher

    REPLACE SHIFT PADDLE SWITCH RH (NO. 2 TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH ASSEMBLY). Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2018 - 10/2019]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [10/2019 - 08/2020] 

    Result: 

    OK

  8. INSPECT NO. 1 SWITCH WIRE 
    1. Install the transmission shift switch assembly.

      Refer to INSTALLATION [11/2018 - 08/2020]

    2. Disconnect the No. 1 switch wire connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      z5-2 (SUP) - z5-3 (ECC) "+" (Up shift) shift paddle switch operated and held Below 2.5 Ω
      "+" (Up shift) shift paddle switch not operated 1 MΩ or higher
      z5-4 (SDN) - z5-3 (ECC) "-" (Down shift) shift paddle switch operated and held Below 2.5 Ω
      "-" (Down shift) shift paddle switch not operated 1 MΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [11/2018 - 02/2019]  , or refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [02/2019 - 08/2020]

    REPLACE NO. 1 SWITCH WIRE. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2018 - 10/2019]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [10/2019 - 08/2020]
