DTC B15FE: XM Tuner Antenna Disconnected; DTC B15FF: XM Tuner Antenna Short [11/2018 - 10/2022]: Procedure

  1. CHECK CONNECTION OF ANTENNA CABLE 
    1. Check if the No. 1 amplifier antenna assembly cable is securely connected to the radio and display receiver assembly.

      OK

      No. 1 amplifier antenna assembly cable is securely connected.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    SECURELY CONNECT NO. 1 AMPLIFIER ANTENNA ASSEMBLY CABLE 

    Result: 

    OK

  2. CHECK DTC 
    1. Clear the DTCs.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [11/2018 - 10/2019] , or refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [10/2019 - 10/2022]

      Body Electrical > Navigation System > Clear DTCs 

    2. Recheck for DTCs and check that no DTCs are output.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [11/2018 - 10/2019] , or refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [10/2019 - 10/2022]

      Body Electrical > Navigation System > Trouble Codes 

      OK

      No DTCs are output.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [11/2018 - ]

  3. CHECK NO. 4 ANTENNA CORD SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the antenna connector from the No. 1 amplifier antenna assembly.

      (No. 1 Amplifier Antenna Assembly)
      *b Front view of wire harness connector
      (to No. 3 Antenna Cord Sub-assembly)
    2. Disconnect the antenna connector from the No. 3 antenna cord sub-assembly.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A-3 - B-5 Always Below 1 Ω
      A-3a - B-5a Always Below 1 Ω
      A-3 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE NO. 4 ANTENNA CORD SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2018 - ] 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. CHECK NO. 3 ANTENNA CORD SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the antenna connector from the No. 4 antenna cord sub-assembly.

    2. Disconnect the antenna connector from the antenna cord sub-assembly.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B-5 - C-5 Always Below 1 Ω
      B-5a - C-5a Always Below 1 Ω
      B-5 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE NO. 3 ANTENNA CORD SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2018 - ] 

    Result: 

    OK

  5. CHECK ANTENNA CORD SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the antenna connector from the No. 3 antenna cord sub-assembly.

    2. Disconnect the antenna connector from the radio and display receiver assembly.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C-5 - D-1 (SXM) Always Below 1 Ω
      C-5a - D-1a Always Below 1 Ω
      C-5 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE ANTENNA CORD SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2018 - 02/2019]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [02/2019 - 10/2019]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [10/2019 - 08/2020]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [08/2020 - 12/2021]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [12/2021 - 10/2022] 

    Result: 

    OK

  6. CHECK NO. 1 AMPLIFIER ANTENNA ASSEMBLY 
    1. Replace the No. 1 amplifier antenna assembly with a new or known good one.

      Refer to REMOVAL [11/2018 - ]

    2. Clear the DTCs.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [11/2018 - 10/2019] , or refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [10/2019 - 10/2022]

      Body Electrical > Navigation System > Clear DTCs 

    3. Recheck for DTCs and check that no DTCs are output.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [11/2018 - 10/2019] , or refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [10/2019 - 10/2022]

      Body Electrical > Navigation System > Trouble Codes 

      OK

      No DTCs are output.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    END (NO. 1 AMPLIFIER ANTENNA ASSEMBLY IS DEFECTIVE) 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE RADIO AND DISPLAY RECEIVER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2018 - 10/2022]
