DTC B15D3: Stereo Component Amplifier Disconnected [08/2020 - 10/2022]: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC 
    1. If DTC B15C3 is output, perform troubleshooting for DTC B15C3 first.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC B15C3 is not output. A
      DTC B15C3 is output. B

    Result: 

    GO TO DTC B15C3. Refer to  DTC B15C3: Speaker Output Short [10/2019 - 10/2022]

  2. CHECK OPTIONAL COMPONENTS (INCLUDING ASSOCIATED WIRING) 
    1. Check that optional components (including associated wiring) which generate radio waves are not installed.

      Result

      HINT: 

      • Electrical noise from radio waves generated by optional components or the wiring for those components may affect AVC-LAN communication.
      • This DTC may be stored when an AVC-LAN communication error occurs due to electrical noise.

  3. REMOVE OPTIONAL COMPONENTS (INCLUDING ASSOCIATED WIRING) 
    1. Remove optional components (including associated wiring).
      NOTE:

      Do not remove optional components or associated wiring without the permission of the customer.

  4. CHECK DTC 
    1. Clear the DTCs.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [10/2019 - 10/2022]

      Body Electrical > Navigation System > Clear DTCs 

    2. Recheck for DTCs and check that no DTCs are output.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [10/2019 - 10/2022]

      Body Electrical > Navigation System > Trouble Codes 

      OK

      No DTCs are output.

      Result

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY POWER SOURCE) 
    1. Disconnect the stereo component amplifier assembly connectors.

      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Stereo Component Amplifier Assembly)
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      M2-3 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      M2-18 (GND2) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      M2-1 (+B) - M2-3 (GND) Ignition switch off 10.5 to 16 V*1
      11 to 14 V*2
      M2-16 (+B2) - M2-3 (GND) Ignition switch off 10.5 to 16 V*1

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RADIO AND DISPLAY RECEIVER ASSEMBLY - STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the G3 radio and display receiver assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the M3 stereo component amplifier assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G3-5 (TX1+) - M3-8 (TX+) Always Below 1 Ω
      G3-6 (TX1-) - M3-7 (TX-) Always Below 1 Ω
      G3-5 (TX1+) or M3-8 (TX+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      G3-6 (TX1-) or M3-7 (TX-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      OK
      NG

    Result:

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result:

  7. REPLACE STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Replace the stereo component amplifier assembly with a new or known good one.

      Refer to REMOVAL [11/2018 - 10/2022]

    2. Clear the DTCs.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [10/2019 - 10/2022]

      Body Electrical > Navigation System > Clear DTCs 

    3. Recheck for DTCs and check that no DTCs are output.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [10/2019 - 10/2022]

      Body Electrical > Navigation System > Trouble Codes 

      OK

      No DTCs are output.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    END (STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY IS DEFECTIVE) 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE RADIO AND DISPLAY RECEIVER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2018 - 10/2022]
