Check Bus 3 Lines for Short Circuit [10/2022 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR SHORT IN CAN BUS WIRES (NO. 5 CAN JUNCTION CONNECTOR) 
    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    2. Disconnect the No. 5 CAN junction connector.

      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to No. 5 CAN Junction Connector)
      *b to Bus Buffer ECU (w/ Bus Buffer ECU)
      *c to Central Gateway ECU (Network Gateway ECU) *d to DCM (Telephone Transceiver Assembly) (w/ Telematics System)
      *e to Central Gateway ECU (Network Gateway ECU) *f to Radio and Display Receiver Assembly (for Radio and Display Type)
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      G105-1 (CANH) - G105-12 (CANL) Cable disconnected from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal 200 Ω or higher Bus buffer ECU*1
      G105-2 (CANH) - G105-13 (CANL) Cable disconnected from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal 108 to 132 Ω Central gateway ECU (network gateway ECU)
      G105-3 (CANH) - G105-14 (CANL) Cable disconnected from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal 200 Ω or higher DCM (telephone transceiver assembly)*3
      G105-4 (CANH) - G105-15 (CANL) Cable disconnected from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal 108 to 132 Ω Central gateway ECU (network gateway ECU)
      G105-5 (CANH) - G105-16 (CANL) Cable disconnected from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal 200 Ω or higher Radio and display receiver assembly*2

      *1: w/ Bus Buffer ECU

      *2: for Radio and Display Type

      *3: w/ Telematics System

  2. CHECK FOR SHORT IN CAN BUS WIRES (CENTRAL GATEWAY ECU [NETWORK GATEWAY ECU] - NO. 5 CAN JUNCTION CONNECTOR) 
    1. Reconnect the G105 No. 5 CAN junction connector.
    2. Disconnect the central gateway ECU (network gateway ECU) connector.

      (to Central Gateway ECU [Network Gateway ECU])
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G72-6 (CA3H) - G72-21 (CA3L) Cable disconnected from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal 200 Ω or higher
      G72-19 (CAYH) - G72-20 (CAYL)

      Result

    REPLACE CENTRAL GATEWAY ECU (NETWORK GATEWAY ECU) 

    Refer to REMOVAL [10/2022 - 10/2023] , or refer to REMOVAL [10/2023 - ]

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE CAN BUS MAIN WIRE OR CONNECTOR (CENTRAL GATEWAY ECU [NETWORK GATEWAY ECU] - NO. 5 CAN JUNCTION CONNECTOR) 

  3. CHECK FOR SHORT IN CAN BUS WIRES (ECU, SENSOR) 
    1. Reconnect all wire harness connectors.
    2. Disconnect the connector that includes terminals CANH and CANL from the ECU or sensor to which the short circuited branch line is connected.

      Refer to TERMINALS OF ECU [10/2022 - 10/2023] , or refer to TERMINALS OF ECU [10/2023 - ]

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      G72-6 (CA3H) - G72-21 (CA3L) Cable disconnected from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal 54 to 69 Ω

      *a Component with harness connected
      (Central Gateway ECU [Network Gateway ECU])

      HINT: 

      • If the resistance becomes normal (between 54 and 69 Ω) when the connector is disconnected from the ECU or sensor, there may be a short in the ECU or sensor.
      • If the resistance does not become normal when the connector is disconnected from the ECU or sensor, check for a short in the wire harness and repair or replace the wire harness or connector if necessary.
