DTC B1498: Communication Malfunction (A/C Inverter Local) [11/2018 - 02/2019]: Procedure

  1. CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM 
    1. Using the Techstream, check if the CAN communication system is functioning normally.

      Refer to HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [11/2018 - 02/2019]

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      CAN communication system DTCs are not output A
      CAN communication system DTCs are output B

    Result: 

    GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [11/2018 - 02/2019] 

    Result:

  2. CHECK FOR DTC (HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM) 
    1. Check if hybrid control system DTCs are output.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [11/2018 - 08/2020]

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTCs are not output A
      DTCs are output B

    Result: 

    GO TO HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [11/2018 - 08/2020]

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMPRESSOR WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY - HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the C52 compressor with motor assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the A29 hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector.
    3. Disconnect the Q14 battery state sensor assembly connector.
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C52-3 (DOUT) - A29-8 (LIN3) Always Below 1 Ω
      C52-3 (DOUT) - A29-8 (LIN3) - Other terminals and body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMPRESSOR WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY - BATTERY AND BODY GROUND) 
    WARNING:

    Do not disconnect the connector on the high-voltage side.

    1. Disconnect the compressor with motor assembly connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C52-2 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      C52-1 (IG1) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      Power switch off Below 1 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  5. INSPECT HV AIR CONDITIONING WIRE 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Remove the HV air conditioning wire.

      Refer to REMOVAL [11/2018 - 02/2019]

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Z1-2 (PB) - Z2-1 (ACPB) Always Below 1 Ω
      Z1-1 (PE) - Z2-2 (ACPE) Always Below 1 Ω
      Z1-2 (PB) - Other terminals and body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE COMPRESSOR WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2018 - 02/2019] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE HV AIR CONDITIONING WIRE. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2018 - 02/2019]
