Back Door Closer does not Operate [11/2018 - 10/2023]: Procedure

  1. CHECK VEHICLE CONDITION 
    1. Check that power back door function on the multi-information display in the combination meter assembly is set to ON.

      Refer to CUSTOMIZE PARAMETERS [11/2018 - 10/2023]

      Result

      Power back door function on the multi-information display in the combination meter assembly is set to ON (power back door system operation is permitted) A
      Power back door function on the multi-information display in the combination meter assembly is set to OFF (power back door system operation is prohibited) B

    Result: 

    SET POWER BACK DOOR FUNCTION TO ON (PERMIT POWER BACK DOOR SYSTEM OPERATION)

  2. CHECK POWER BACK DOOR SYSTEM CONDITION 
    1. Check power back door system condition.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      The malfunction symptom reproduces A
      The malfunction symptom does not reproduce B

    Result: 

    GO TO POWER BACK DOOR CANNOT BE OPERATED FREQUENTLY. Refer to  Power Back Door cannot be Operated Frequently [11/2018 - 10/2023]

  3. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Check for DTCs.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [11/2018 - 10/2023]

      Body Electrical > Back Door > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC is not output A
      DTC B2250 is output B
      DTC B2251 is output C

    Result: 

    GO TO DTC B2250. Refer to  DTC B2250: Back Door Closer Operation Malfunction [11/2018 - 10/2023]  

    Result: 

    GO TO DTC B2251. Refer to  DTC B2251: Back Door Closer Switch Malfunction [11/2018 - 10/2023]

  4. CHECK BACK DOOR 
    1. Check if the back door can be fully closed by hand.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      The back door can be closed normally A
      The back door cannot be closed normally B

    Result: 

    IMPROPER FIT OF BACK DOOR, OR A FOREIGN OBJECT IS STUCK IN BACK DOOR

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MULTIPLEX NETWORK DOOR ECU -BATTERY AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the multiplex network door ECU connectors.

      *a Rear view of wire harness connector
      (to Multiplex Network Door ECU)
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      R19-10 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      R18-20 (ECUB) - Body ground Power switch off 11 to 14 V
      R19-1 (B) - Body ground Power switch off 11 to 14 V
      R18-18 (IG) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      Power switch off Below 1 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  6. INSPECT BACK DOOR LOCK WITH COURTESY LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the back door lock with courtesy light switch assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [11/2018 - ]

    2. Inspect the back door lock with courtesy light switch assembly.

      Refer to INSPECTION [11/2018 - ]

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE BACK DOOR LOCK WITH COURTESY LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2018 - ] 

    Result: 

    OK

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BACK DOOR LOCK WITH COURTESY LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY - MULTIPLEX NETWORK DOOR ECU AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the R13 and R14 back door lock with courtesy light switch assembly connectors.
    2. Disconnect the R18 and R19 multiplex network door ECU connectors.
    3. Disconnect the 4H instrument panel junction block assembly connector.
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      R13-2 (M+) - R19-4 (DC+) Always Below 1 Ω
      R13-1 (M-) - R19-3 (DC-) Always Below 1 Ω
      R14-4 (CTY) - R18-11 (FUL) Always Below 1 Ω
      R14-2 (FSW) - R18-13 (PAWL) Always Below 1 Ω
      R14-3 (CLS) - R18-9 (HAF) Always Below 1 Ω
      R14-6 (OPN) - R18-7 (POS) Always Below 1 Ω
      R14-1 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      R13-2 (M+) or R19-4 (DC+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      R13-1 (M-) or R19-3 (DC-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      R14-2 (FSW) or R18-13 (PAWL) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      R14-4 (CTY) or R18-11 (FUL) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      R14-3 (CLS) or R18-9 (HAF) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      R14-6 (OPN) or R18-7 (POS) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

    REPLACE MULTIPLEX NETWORK DOOR ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2018 - 10/2023]
